"He could be No. 1 overall, that's not out of the realm of possibility," Kiper recently said on ESPN's Get Up. "You say, 'Hey, what team could trade up?' You think about Miami, Washington, Jacksonville. You have Joe Flacco, Nick Foles other options out there that have been proven entities in the NFL. But from a draft standpoint, Dwayne Haskins is the man. Justin Herbert's going back to Oregon. Daniel Jones, Duke is more of a mid-first round draft potentially. This is the man. This is the guy that if you want to get the big-time quarterback this year, you're going to have to go up. It makes the Arizona pick more valuable certainly."
It isn't just Kiper who is excited about Haskins at the NFL level. Twelve-year NFL veteran and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark had a unique reason to watch Haskins this year. His former college team, LSU, started transfer quarterback Joe Burrow, who lost the battle to be the Buckeyes' starter last spring. Clark wasn't thrilled about getting another team's second-team quarterback until he saw Haskins play.
"When you watch this kid throw the ball, it's special," he said of Haskins. "When you see him spin it, when you see it come out of his hands, when you see the way he commands the pocket and those are the things you need in the NFL. And you can talk about all the defensive coordinators who are respected that he tore up... But I like to see the talent, I like to see the comfort in the pocket. Dwayne Haskins is going to be a star and if he gets past the New York Giants, shame on (general manager) Dave Gettleman."
