Has anyone seen how the city of Chicago has gone nuts because this guy went on the Today show. Admittedly, I do not know every detail, but what is the big deal? It's ok for the fans to give him death threats, stage kicking contests, etc, but he has to stay in a room and lock himself inside. He can't let the world know that he is doing just fine in the face of this entire city coming down on him?
To make matters worse, it seems that the coach and the GM have joined the pitchfork gang. Nagy, who coached a terrible game and won a meaningless game to get the Eagles to his building, said his action is a "me" thing and not a "we" thing (also maybe Nagy should have cut him earlier in the season when he was performing poorly). I just don't get how six days after the season is over, going on a show is selfish? I think I am in the minority on this one, but I wouldn't be upset if a Giants kicker did it. The game is over and the season is over, why would I care where he goes in the off season to explain his season?
I agree...I mean it is his right to do whatever he wants, but the optics are bad.
Maybe Nagy should take some responsibility for carrying Parkey on the team? Maybe the head coach let the team down, huh?
Nagy acts like a douche on the sideline......not a fan.
It was not a PR tour, it was one show. And, I might agree with you if the city of Chicago actually treated him like a human being. They basically put Bartman underground for life after what he did. The city of Chicago gets a good reputation, but in the end its just a small level above Philly.
A week later Rosas is on morning talk shows.
BBI reacts ... how?

Was just about to write something like this.
I totally agree..............esp about Bartman.

It was funny, I knew Chicago was up in arms about it last Friday when he did it, but usually fans are not something I would make a thread about because so many act irrationally (inclduding myself). But, when the head coach basically agreed with the mob, that drove me insane, especially since he coached a terrible game and kept the guy all season even though he had the second worst kicking record in the league.

Well, it's one show.
And who would care? I know I wouldn't.
I'd be pissed he missed the kick, but what the guy does after that.....who cares?

Rosas misses that kick. Giants eliminated at home.

exactly, I would be pissed he missed the kick, but why would I care if he takes a rooftop bus tour through lower manhattan with a sign saying I am ok! The kick is what matters to me
As for Parker, he f*cked up. And the thing is, I don't really blame him. He sucked all season long. Blame goes to their GM Pace & Nagy. They should have replaced him.

...I was like "WTF". If you want to cut the guy, just do it already. What exactly did he do wrong by going on a TV show?

If Nagy has a problem, he should bite his tongue.
Cut the guy, which is certainly deserving.
End of story.
But, you can see just how Nagy carries himself on the sideline he's got issues..............

Agree! I don't see anything wrong with this. And further, I do think it's a good thing for people to see someone deal with failure in a positive way. And not just failure, but a failure in front of millions. I think more people need to know that you can deal with failure that way, and move on and be a positive person.

It's probably therapeutic for the guy for crying out loud.......

I don't think there's any chance Parkey was returning to the Bears, even before the TV show. Nagy stuck with him when he had the 4 FG miss game, so it's his fault. Anyhow, everyone knows Parkey isn't returning to the Bears, so Nagy should stfu about it. Let the man live his life, and if wants to talk about it on a TV show, good for him.
9 million guaranteed and a smoke show for a wife....he's winning
Parkey missed a GW FG at the gun. That definitely sticks out.
However, where was the vaunted Bears D when they needed to make a stop on that go-ahead TD drive by Philly? Invisible.
The coach, however? I think Nagy is a fool for getting on the guy. You can argue Nagy's comments are not "we" by basically singling out Parkey for a TV appearance after a loss. Sounds to me like he's blaming his kicker.
Totally off base. Nagy had a bad week himself anyway.
This seems to get lost in hyperbol... the guy didn't just 'miss' the kick. It was blocked. I'm surprised they haven't looked at who missed their block!?
Chicago can be really low class at times. The Bartman stuff was a disgrace.
Exactly!!!! And actually almost no one on this thread has mentioned that either. It has gotten lost in all the noise, but it is an EXTREMELY important fact. The kick was blocked, so all of this is irrelevant!

apparently Chicago is unaware of that.

And it appeared there was a very high probability it was going through the uprights had it not been tipped.
If you are worked up about a kicker missing a field goal and think he should lay low until it blows over, you are the one with the problem, not the kicker.

That really isn't how I saw it. From what I saw, the ball didn't really appear to change direction. I'm sure it affected the trajectory somewhat, fine. And there's no way of knowing if the kick would've made it through the upright had the ball not been touched, but the main point is, that was a low trajectory kick for a 43-yarder. Treyvon Hester didn't get up very high, nor get deep into the backfield. It was only touched because it was a poor kick from Parkey. I'm on his side for the way he's handled it, but to me the play wasn't so much of a great play by Hester but a very poor kick on Parkey's part. Ball shouldn't have been able to be blocked by Hester in the first place.

That's exactly my thoughts. Yup, Parkey missed a field goal that an NFL kicker should make. However, the D allowed the GW drive with minimal resistance. The saints shut out the Eagles after they woke up.

Someone here said it was still his fault because the trajectory was too low.
Make the damn kick! - ( New Window )

To me, whether it was his fault he missed the kick is really besides the point. Even assuming it was his fault, cut the kicker. Don't join the mob in labeling him a "selfish" player because he went on a tv show six days after the kick and when the season was over. Just say, he can do what he wants to do and leave it at that. Nagy's public criticism seemed to show a lack of leadership and as others said it was probably to divert the attention from his list of errors.
Bears fans can be mad at Codey Parkey all they want for as long as they want imo. My issue is not that they are upset that he missed the field goal, its that they want him to act a certain way a week after he missed the field goal. He is a human being and can go on TV to say that "life goes on."
Parkey missed the kick, but the Bears lost that game as a team. The Bears needed a defensive stop to win and their defense simply wasn't up to the challenge.
That one just screamed 'hey, it's not my fault that guy missed a kick!'.
A good kick by Parkey doesn't get blocked, so he actually did miss the kick, whether or not it was blocked.

The drop kick could be extremely valuable in these situations. Unblockable.
The Bears lost as a unit. They were badly coached, their defense failed in the biggest moment of the season, and then the kicker missed a kick that he should have made. Not sure why fans want to just put the blame on the last failure instead of all of them.
