Completely changed his perspective on life and family. According to my friend, he made drastic changes to be a better person and was probably the best thing that could've ever happened to his dad.
Yes, it was an excellent movie. More so how it depicted the FAA trying to pin the blame on the crew and how Sully stuck it to them in the most epic way.
I always get jacked when the little guy sticks it to the "man." Well played Mr. Sullenberger.

The movie was exceptionally done and mostly accurate, from a pilot's perspective and was true to the technical details of the accident.
However, one area that was very embellished and very inaccurate is the depiction of the adversarial-like exchanges between the NTSB (NTSB is the major investigative body not the FAA) and the crew.
This was actually one of the areas Sullenberger regretted how it was depicted in the movie. There was never any "giving it to the man" that was totally done up for Hollywood. There was little if at all drama in the sense that his efforts were doubted. Yes of course part of the investigation involves "what if" scenarios to see if they could make it back. We do that in our sim training occasionally too. But the NTSB portrayed as the bad guys in this movie was way over the top.
The real NTSB does not place blame. It determines probable cause of an accident and then makes recommendations to the regulating body (FAA in this case). The NTSB is an extremely professional organization and its investigations and recommendations have made transportation in this country boringly routine.
Ugh.
