NFT: Ex-Yankee great John Wetteland charged with child sex

DanMetroMan : 1/15/2019 12:27 pm
Wetteland, 52, is accused of continuously sexually abusing a child under the age of 14, according to Denton County jail records. The Trophy Club resident posted $25,000 bond.

A long-time born-again Christian, he has coached baseball and taught Bible studies at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, but apparently has no connection to the school at this time. School officials did not immediately return requests for background.

(Man these old players are real scumbags aren't they. Curtis, Dykstra etc)

there were rarely bidding wars for these guys. Almost every year teams were looking to dump salary, and the Yankees were one of the few teams who could afford to add money.
The Yankees were paying some of their best players peanuts (Jeter, Rivera, Pettite Bernie, etc.) but they were were sitting on all that MSG money which dwarfed what other teams were getting.

The Cubs were owned by the Tribune company which back in the day was like Amazon or Apple as far as resources. They had more money than anyone to play with. But the corporate heads didn't invest in the team properly and they never won. George took his profits and sunk it back to the team to keep bringing in more players because he understood the sizzle and the Yankee brand. He was impatient and at times made some rash/stupid decisions, but you could never accuse him of not caring about winning and putting his money where his mouth was. We've had enough posts about Hal, so I'll leave this here ;)
George loved to make money

But he loved winning more. I don't think even his biggest critics would argue that. He often went about trying to win in foolish, self-destructive ways, yes.

were always teams that had corporate money behind them (Cardinals, Angels, Cubs, etc.) but few, if any, were generating the revenue the Yankees were once the MSG deal kicked in. And like any business, the parent company wasn't going to start throwing cash at a sports team unless the team's revenues were going to cover it.

Give the guy the benefit of the doubt until some facts and proof is given, can we let the due process take place. No, scumbag he is, and we sit here knowing nothing, only accusations from unknown sources.
On one hand, presumption of innocence

The headline for the linked story is "Texas Rangers Hall of Fame pitcher John Wetteland arrested on child sex abuse charge", but you felt the need to change it to "ex-Yankee"? Wetteland played 12 seasons in the major leagues, only two of them as a Yankee.

Yes a little agenda there by op

makes a difference, but they don't specify the sex of the child. If he was taking advantage of a baseball player - that's even worse.

I don't follow what you're getting at, but the alleged assault was of a relative, beginning when the child was 4.

Due process doesn't exist on BBI

If hes proven guilty then hang him. If hes proven innocent then I hope people on here as voraciously apologize to him as they did condemning him.
He will get his due process
UConn4523 : 1/15/2019 7:33 pm : link
what’s that have to do with BBI? If he did it he’s a piece of shit. Emphasis on if.
A little more info from the article.

He forced a relative to perform a sex act on him, according to his arrest-warrant affidavit, beginning in 2004 when the child was 4 years old. It happened two other times during a two-year period, the accuser told police.

If I read that correctly, it WAS "continuous" from 2004-6, for a total of three times, when the child was 4-6.

I'm not trying to minimize this, just give it context. In fact, if he is guilty, and this ended in 2006, it's likely that there were other victims. Pedophiles don't stop like that, from everything I have read.

It would be worse? Really? What if he was taking advantage of a parishioner? You know, hiding behind God and Jesus? What if it was a girl ... that didn’t play baseball?
