Teaser Trailer now out for Ghostbusters 3 with Jason Reitman (Ivan’s son) directing. Not much to see but still looks cool nonetheless and can’t wait to hear more about it. Ghostbusters 3 - ( New Window )
Nope, different “universe” for that movie, this will be set in the same universe so to speak, so everything that happened in the first two movies will be a history for this movie. I would imagine at least Akroyd and Hudson will be involved, not sure about Murray
is the only thing that would get him out of retirement at this point. For those who don't know, he left show business after his wife died, so he could focus on raising his kids. It would be pretty cool if he returned for this.

I remember when Force Awakens came out Mel Brooks was floating the idea of another Spaceballs movie, but would only do it if he could get Moranis. Obviously, he must have said no.

He said he would consider it but only if the script was good.
Because I believe I’ve read in the past that he was against doing this when they floated the idea a while back and that he was the hold up to doing it. I could be wrong though
there were rumors about an all-male reboot with Channing Tatum as one of the leads.
Also, I think this could be good. You could have the storyline that Egon passed away, but returns in some sort of Ghost form, especially with the way CGI is today.

He has been. But things change, and Murray is the type to keep people guessing.
He also cameo'd in the Girl Ghostbusters reboot albeit in a very weird role, but he was in it. Never say never.
not because I'm a sexist but don't have a lot of time for movies. Was it really bad?
I'm assuming it was, because the original cast returning for Ghostbusters 2 wasn't exactly a masterpiece. Not sure how much material there is beyond that first movie.
Dan Akroyd has been trying to get a 3rd Ghostbusters Â
made for over 10 years and he has said on numerous occasions that he has tried to talk Bill Murray into it but Murray has always passed. It would be awesome to get Billy Murray even if it's a small part but I doubt that he would do it unless it was a brief cameo. Akroyd will surely want a big part and I am sure Hudson would as well.

Don't waste your time. It is as bad as you've heard.
I did think of that, just wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a main character coming back like that. I did envision him being like a Slimer type from the sequel...
for the female ghostbusters reboot they would at least get the CGI right. What a trash movie that was.
Yeah, the CGI was bad and overused. My biggest problem was with the cast not having any chemistry. They were all trying to be funny on their own and didn't really play off of one-another well.
Plus it made no sense to me to make it a full reboot, but still have cameos from all the original cast members playing different characters. What a waste.
Bill Murray was in it though. So if he could do that garbage he can be in this one too.
There were some decisions that were dumb - like the whole Statue of Liberty thing & Slimer, but there were other things I think worked well - the river of slime making all New Yorkers angry.
And I love the complete campiness of Vigo and his hypnotized helper guy "you err like de buzzing of flies to heem"
What do you mean? they made a Caddyshack sequel without him (and everyone else) and that turned out fine.
say what?
Caddyshack 2 is a top 10 all time movie, one of those rare sequels better than the original.
Yeah, nope. I still can't tell if you're fucking around.
Top 10? Gotta be. lol
It did wonders to kick off the stellar carreer of Jonathan Silverman. Without his work on CaddyShack 2, who know what talentless hack would have been casted for Weekend at Bernie's.

Come on, did you see Caddyshack 2?
Only worse movie I have ever seen in my entire life is Leonard Part VI
And I only even saw Leonard Part VI because my friend's older brother was an usher at the movie theater and we got in for free and it was in the days where they had single movie theaters, so not like there was a huge choice of what movie to see.
If I saw Caddyshack 2 in the theater I'd very likely have walked out.
Oh, I've seen a whole bunch of movies worse than Caddyshack 2 Â
HR: He said this about why there wouldn't be a "Ghostbusters 3" even though they had a pretty good idea.
Quote:
These successful franchises have so many proprietors that there's no money left in them. The reason there isn't a Ghostbusters 3 is that there aren't enough percentage points to make the deal. Everyone wanted such a huge percentage of it that there wasn't enough left for the studio.
SO THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
HR: No. Dan wrote a draft. We had a pretty good idea. 'Ghostbusters go to hell.' But the deal couldn't be made.
IT'S KIND OF SAD. IT'S SAD THAT THE ECONOMICS BECOME SO OVERBEARING.
HR: It is. We thought we'd introduce new Ghostbusters, and appear as the mentors of the new Ghostbusters or not appear in it at all. Bill Murray wouldn't appear in it. I think he didn't want to see a sequel made, so he became kind of obstructionist about it.
IT'S HARD TO DO IT WITHOUT HIM.
HR: Well, it could have been three new Ghostbusters without any of us, and the story Dan and I were evolving could have worked.
I'm not sure those quotes were ever published. If so, they probably aren't on the Internet. But they're not a secret, they were on the record.
I believe much of the third movie's script made it into the 2009 videogame. The story was pretty good. It was written by ramis and akroyd and it tied the first two films together in an intelligent way. I think it would have made a good movie. Hopefully this one doesn't suck

The original cast, outside of Ramis for obvious reasons, has been confirmed to return, but the movie will focus on 4 kids, 2 girls, 2 boys as the uncover a supernatural occurrence in a strange town and go combat it. According to my source

Movie was pretty decent and had some laughs. Worth a watch on a snowy Sunday morning.
Haha at Walmart the 2016 film comprises 75% of the $5 bin
Hopefully I did this right...

Only because the world is sexist, not because it was a terrible pile of crap.

Who is to say Murray isn't involved? Obviously Egon won't be, but Akroyd, Murray, and Hudson could be.
Likely scenario, Akroyd is the one involved, and he will play mentor to a new generation of Ghostbusters.

In the world of Ghosts, you don't think he could show up as CGI.
The biggest Oscar snub of all time!

Ghstbusters: I'm With Her
Whatever Hollywood dope exec who green lighted that movie should set themself on fire.

I have my doubts about a new one without that core, but who knows, I'll be open minded.

worse than Caddyshack 2? I still don't know if Jackie Mason was acting or if that's his normal voice.
Never saw Master of Disguise or Battlefield Earth
Not that rotten tomatoes is end all be all, but they're all gems (Caddyshack 2, 2nd lowest overall and 2nd lowest audience score):
Caddyshack 2: 4% on rotten tomatoes (17% audience)
Howard the Duck: 15% (38% audience)
Master of Disguise: 1% (LOL) (32% audience)
Battlefield Earth: 3% (11% audience) LOL
Alexander: 16% (34% audience)
Postman: 9% (49% audience)
Leonard Part 6: 9% (20% audience)
SO THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

They don't make it like they used too.
A remake would be an empowered all pansexual cast geared towards children.
