I own it on DVD and it's an incredible story/documentary. One of my favorite music docs.
Dude worked on the Manhattan Project while in the military. then went back to college to get a physics degree, but what he had worked on in the military(and his knowledge) had already passed the curriculum, so he left and started working as a music studio engineer.
He came up with the idea of using faders on mixing boards, they used to be knobs/dials.
