Linehan not only kept the job, but got a raise and extension.
Riley is a hero. If he didn't pull that nonsense, the Giants are picking at like 11 in the draft. You can't start 1-7, miss the playoffs and pick out of the top 10. And we thank him for his service by never letting him wear a Giants jersey again.
They've managed to build a good roster but now Linehan's the problem and not Dak?
I know for a fact the Giants coaches thought DAL was a well-coached offense with a great system. That delay action which has been a constant under Linehan & Garrett is a bitch to defend and they execute it beautifully. Plus it really plays to their strengths with that OLine & Zeke.
Now Linehan's the problem? Crazy. I'm glad they're bringing in a new system.
If it’s not working, change it. Dont wait till it’s to late like the Giants smh. If they can match what they have in the DC coach, they will be hard to deal with..

What makes you sure the "if it is not working" portion isn't someone else and not Linehan?
to that call on 4th and 1 call in the 4th QTR last week.
That was a big miss.
Big miss, but the right call IMO.
It was the right call going for it.
The play call, based on the struggles running all night up to that point, was poor. The Rams interior DL really smoked rookie G Connor Williams. And Linehan called that play to run right behind Williams.
depending on the FA signings and the draft, Dallas could be very scary next year. True they don't have a first pick in the draft, but they are sitting on $55M in cap space and have most of their roster signed. Just about anyone they want in FA they should have the means to get, and that can easily replace not having a first round pick.
But say they resign Lawrence, sign Clowney and a DB or 2, and then they will have one sick team.
True Dak is not a great QB, but he is a decent QB, and with their OL and RB they can win a championship without a great QB (similar to Flacco winning a SB for the Ravens)
Might as well just take a knee, might lose less yards. Dak needs to be utilized way more in the running game in games that count. The Cowboys are so vanilla it hurts. When you have a clear talent advantage that's fine, but to beat the big boys you need the coaches to show up.
but they have a lot of key guys up for new deals in 2020, 4-5 of which figure to earn $10M+ per season:
Dak - hopefully he gets a Cousins like deal!
Elliott - will be $8-10M for 2020 when they pick up his option
B Jones - elite CBs get $14-15M per
L Collins
J Smith
Cooper - I wouldn't give him 8 figures, but elite WRs get >$15M per
Then they have a few lower level UFAs like Maliek Collins and Anthony Brown.
The top 6 guys above will need at least $35M in cap space to sign, assuming they all have cap friendly deals in year 1. So any deals they sign this year will need to account for the cap space they're going to need next offseason.

Fires the guy week after giving assurances. Fact is he does whatever Jerry tells him to do. Ultimately this will turn off people wanting to work for him if he throws them under bus to save his butt.

Over-the-cap is showing them with $125M in cap space for 2020. No doubt a chunk of that will be eaten up with this year's signings, but they are in good shape as of now.
There’s fairly large contingent that think Dak can be more than what he has been with the right scheme around him. Presumably this ideal scheme would include Dak running more. Of course, the problem with that is he’ll meet the same fate which eventually falls every “mobile” NFL quarterback.
I don’t think Dak has proven that he can read defenses and make adjustments at the los. But I do think he’s a good enough NFL starting QB to compete. Just don’t think he can win a championship.
Regardless, as a Giants fan, hopefully Jerah’ locks up Dak and Garrett to long term deals.
chance. After that they fall off a cliff. I think they'll be very strong next year. They have a solid core and if they draft well they'll be contenders. One thing is certain, they were a hell of a lot closer than us this year.

Dak is built like a LB and no reason not to incorporate him into running games in games that matter. No one is saying to base the offense on that.
Making pre snap decisions is a strength of his game so not sure where you are getting that. He reads defenses fine, his problem is he's just unbelievably inaccurate for an NFL QB.

On Overthecap Dallas has 55 million in cap space, WITH Cooper counting 14 million against the cap.

Jones needs a guy who lets him interfere.
Garrett is content to let Jones interfere.
That was a big miss.
