His final business decision before getting pulled will likely be his final business decision of his career. He only signed a 1 year contract. Technically he is still on our roster, but he won't be brought back.
was Riley was given the starting job from day 1. Thompson and Adams were kicked to the side almost immediately. So I expected a lot more from him.
I didn't think Adams play was terrible. Seemed he played his position conservatively not out of control. Didn't he catch on with the Bucs, and played okay, not Riley bad.
The praise for Thompson his rookie camps was he was was intelligent, knew the system, put people in the right places. Then he got hurt and nothing....
with those saying Adams was ok. He wasn’t an all pro but he played well enough and you could see how much better Collins played with a FS that allowed him to play up more
Was the worst player but that’s because he was never a free safety.
Giants went into that season with 3 safeties, Phillips, Michael Johnson and CC Brown. When Phillips went down with the knee injury that eventually cost him his career, there was nothing behind him worth anything.
I remember reading the safeties coach wanted another player because he was afraid someone was going to get hurt and the Giants had no depth. I think it was David Merritt who said that.
Dave Thomas was slow as shit but he was a starting CB on a Super Bowl team. He was absolutely not worse than CC Brown. Not even close. Riley isn't, either.
If we want to pull out crappy old NYG DB's, Jeremy Lincoln might be a better place to start.
Get like 5+ ints one year, mostly because teams were targeting him? I assumed he was so out of position, it confused the qbs.
No, that was Stevie Brown, basically in the right place at the right time. Anyone could see that. Then he tore his ACL. And still Reese gave him a big contract because why the fuck not.

Bad bad CC Brown
Baddest DB in the whole dang town
Worse then Jeremy Lincoln
Don't know what Reese was thinking
Riley only started because DG and PS were trying to justify their own acquisitions. He will be out of football within a year

They were both awful players, end of story
Riley was terrible, played himself out of the NFL.
Does the 23 include the tackles he didn't really try to make, or is it just the ones where he gave an effort?
always wondered...
Riley had 4 INTs too
But Adams wasn't good either. Stats are always skewed.
Stevie Brown was a decent, borderline starter. Yet he had that 8 pick season. But he still wasn't a tremendous safety or anything.

And he played like crap.
