One more game before the team gets a lengthy break. Any deadline predictions from the Rangers fans in here? Who gets dealt?
My prediction: they trade McQuaid, Hayes, Zucc, (no surprises) and Vlady Namestikov for a couple of firsts, a blue chipper, and a handful of lesser prospects and picks. Similar to last year. Patience has been the play with Gorton so I dont think we see a Shatty, Kreider, or any other big name guys with years left dealt. I could also see Tony D getting added into a deal for us if its a blockbuster like the McD trade. Dont think his personality is meshing with anyone here in NY.
Rumor/Gossip/Reddit info: Vlad Namestikov has deleted all of the pictures of him as a NYR on Instagram. His profile pic is still him in a rangers jersey and his bio says Rangers player. Just thought that was interesting and was worthy of passing along.
Have at it. Islanders fans relax we know we stink this year, feel free to chime in but dont kick us while were down! As Giants fans these last two years should have built up some empathy in all of us.
Fast and Kreider may be dangled, but I don't think they'll be traded in the end. Staal? God, I wish.
I could see a contender trading for Hayes at the deadline, but knowing Gorton, we'll probably get less than we should be getting.
Trim the fat to include Staal, please. Enough of this sled. He's an anchor that they've been dragging on the floor for years.
If he doesnt have that horrible skull fracture, that
OST season goes a different way IMO.
Shattenkirk deal was a head scratcher from day 1. What were they thinking? Especially after the Yandle disaster.
Will be very interesting to see what happens. I wish they would make a big splash and get a huge prospect, but I bet they just stack picks again. Probably has a little to do with the upcoming Seattle draft as well.
I think the Rangers have a choice (captain obvious?).
Zucc and Hayes are impending free agents. I'd trade both an commit to a real rebuild.
I think Pacioretty is better than both Zucc and Hayes, but he should be a comp to use when looking at what you want for a return. Patches got Tatar, Nick Suzuki (blue-chip) and a 2nd round pick. and then LVG had to extend Pacioretty. Tatar was a throw-in and he's been great and has two more seasons under contract (which LVG subsidized with cash).
Davisian is right though, IMO the Rangers issues are more the dead weight on D than the non-elite forwards.
McQuaid is a shitty player and a rental and has only played 23 games this year. Don't see him netting even a 3rd, but who knows.
And the Rangers might be best suited by including someone like Staal or Smith in a trade with Zucc to clear their salary
Somehow they have two years each at high salaries for Smith, Staal, and Shattenkirk
Should be an interesting 5 weeks.
You watch more than me, but I don't see it when I watch.
Looks like same old Staal to me. major lapses in defensive responsibility that lead to goals. and for a guy who now is predominantly a stay at home defenseman that should not happen.
Rangers Staal a Buyout Candidate - ( New Window )
So do Shattenkirk and Smith (of some type).
But, I can't imagine any of the saying no to go to a contender. but who knows.
athletes get comfortable some times I guess.
Fans making him the whipping boy for poor D are not watching the games this year.

Guilty. I only tune in here and there. Same with Knicks games. I don't like watching my teams lose.

Staal, Lundquist, Smith and Shattenkirk all have two more years left after this one. That's 25 million in slary cap.
So, basically, the Rangers just have to rebuild the next two seasons and wait until those 4 salaries are cleRED TO SIGN FREE AGENTS.
Of course, the Rangers under Dolan have rarely done what is prudent and generally go for the quick fix. So who knows what will happen. But given that their four bad contracts all expire in the same year, what they should do is fairly obvious.
I highly doubt it. The team isn't going anywhere this season and the team is rebuilding. Zucc and the other vets should be dangled.
It's annoying that they're here (especially Staal and Smith) but it's not a big deal. Lundqvist too for that matter.
Hopefully a young nucleus is in place for summer 2021 when we can be big players in offseason FA if mgmt seems us ready to contend again by then.
This isn't going to be a 1-2 year process....
I love how the Bruins fans were all up in arms when Chytil got pushed into Rask

Two more scouts from NY Rangers at #Avs game today. Theyve been following team everywhere lately. I definitely think a deal of some magnitude could happen by deadline. But Avs will not be trading that Ottawa pick @BSNDenver
Cale Makar, please

Interesting...
Makar was the 4th overall pick two drafts ago, that would be a steal for the Rangers for Hayes.
I like Martin Kaut too if Makar isn't available.

Just FWIW, the Rangers guys at the Avalanche game earlier today are also here at the Eagles game. They were also here last night. To further stoke the trade fires.
