NO for a professional meeting. Will be leaving in about 2 hours. I will be heading to a jazz club on Sunday night. I haven't decided which one yet.
Not... Β

Much jazz, but that’s quite a lineup!!! Seems more like a Woodstock lineup though?!?!?!

Go to Frenchman street. There are a ton you can hop around to with little to no cover fees. You can grab a hotdog at Dat dog and watch the jazz band that comes out in the street to play around 930 pm.

On Bourbon st I do enjoy Fritzels which is more touristy but really good music.

My coworker recently told me about trombone shorty. They are awesome. I still need to spend more time on his stuff so I don’t know anything by name, but holy fuck is he (they) talented.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to do some research tomorrow. At the airport in Charlotte right now getting on my connecting flight. I am not really into older New Orleans style jazz, so I am hoping to find a club that has bebop and/or later styles of jazz. The pre-bop stuff isn't really my thing.
d.b.a. on Frenchmen is on awesome spot. Β

The last time I was there, I saw a band called Tuba Skinny. I love those guys, but from the sounds of your description of what you like, they might be a bit too old-timey for you. I think they have a standing free show on Saturdays before the paid act plays.
Tipitina's... Β

Perpetual Groove and The Quickening tomorrow night (Sunday) down on Napoleon Street
Frenchman Street is where it's at Β

The only jazz club on Bourbon I'll hit is Fritzels. Small, great service, cool seating, intimate and usually not packed with drunk assholes.
JFC that's a lineup and a half Β

I'd go home happy just with seeing Al Green and Earth Wind and Fire.
Cool. Β
