Thats really what I was thinking :-)
Go to Frenchman street. There are a ton you can hop around to with little to no cover fees. You can grab a hotdog at Dat dog and watch the jazz band that comes out in the street to play around 930 pm.
On Bourbon st I do enjoy Fritzels which is more touristy but really good music.
My coworker recently told me about trombone shorty. They are awesome. I still need to spend more time on his stuff so I dont know anything by name, but holy fuck is he (they) talented.

NO for a professional meeting. Will be leaving in about 2 hours. I will be heading to a jazz club on Sunday night. I haven't decided which one yet.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to do some research tomorrow. At the airport in Charlotte right now getting on my connecting flight. I am not really into older New Orleans style jazz, so I am hoping to find a club that has bebop and/or later styles of jazz. The pre-bop stuff isn't really my thing.
