So I am sitting in my favorite local coffee shop getting some work done and 'Mrs. Robinson' plays....What a fantastic song to a classic all time movie.
It got me thinking....what other songs do you enjoy from classic movies?
I can't listen to 'Son of a Preacher Man' without thinking about Pulp Fiction.

Just saw a screening of Goodfellas last night at The Alamo Drafthouse...That movie never gets old.
Resivour Dogs - "Stuck in the Middle with You"
Pee Wee's Big Adventure - "Tequila"
Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance Kid - "Rain Drops Keep Falling on my Head"....mainly because it didn't make any sense in the film, lol.
Hard Day's Night - "Hard Day's Night"
Great one.
MARGI!

Paul Simon hadn't finished the song when he played it for the movie. He was actually toying with naming the song Mrs. Roosevelt and hadn't even written the Joe DiMaggio line yet. As for iconic songs in movies, I'd go with:
Resivour Dogs - "Stuck in the Middle with You"
Pee Wee's Big Adventure - "Tequila"
Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance Kid - "Rain Drops Keep Falling on my Head"....mainly because it didn't make any sense in the film, lol.
Hard Day's Night - "Hard Day's Night"
MARGI!
+1 +1
(=+2?)
"Just Dropped In"- Big Lebowski
"Sussudio"- American Psycho
Sure there are a ton others, but those come immediately to mind.
Very cool.
and I never think of that song the same way. I always thought it was a decent song, maybe symbolic of the 80's but now it's iconic (to me at least).
Green Onions always makes me think of The Sandlot, when the other baseball team comes to challenge them.
Skyfall (Adele)
Nobody Does it Better (Carly Simon)
Tomorrow Never Dies (Sheryl Crow)
Writings on the Wall (Sam Smith)
Goldfinger (Shirley Bassey)
Every time I hear the Piano Coda to Clapton's 'Layla', I think of GoodFellas.
Too often, soundtracks are overdone, movies wind up like a lame, overblown music video - like "Dazed and Confused", a film that had it's moments, but IMO, was watered down with classic rock overkill. It's new scene! New song!!!
Good call.
Great movie.
Funny thing is, The Smithereens were commissioned to write the song that would be used in that scene, but it was deemed too literal.
So, great Smithereens cut "A Girl Like You", wasn't used in the movie, but lyrically IS the movie. The line "I'll Say Anything" is actually highlighted in the song.

good call, never heard that story before either, In your Eyes (because that's how we've seen it maybe) is the perfect song for that scene.
You dudes suck

Limelight in I Love You Man
for me Caddyshack is Anyway you want it by journey. I cannot hear that song without pitcuring Al Czervik saying "so what, so let's dance"
I'm Alright definitely = Caddyshack the way Danger Zone = Top Gun
Harrison was co-executive producer of the film. One of my favorites from my childhood and have always enjoyed the song (though candidly never heard it anywhere else).

My brother and I burned out our vcr watching the tape of this movie when we were kids. For whatever reason it’s just our movie. We quote it all the time to this day.
Or the Mighty Ducks...II?
This is the right answer.
Layla...
Also, a deeper cut, You Gave Your Love to Me Softly by Weezer in the movie Angus.
To a (much) lesser extent - Dream Weaver from the same movie
