So I am sitting in my favorite local coffee shop getting some work done and 'Mrs. Robinson' plays....What a fantastic song to a classic all time movie.
It got me thinking....what other songs do you enjoy from classic movies?
I can't listen to 'Son of a Preacher Man' without thinking about Pulp Fiction.
Harrison was co-executive producer of the film. One of my favorites from my childhood and have always enjoyed the song (though candidly never heard it anywhere else). George Harrison - Only a Dream Away - ( New Window )
That's one of my favorite Harrison sonvs and movies.
One Bad Stud.......Streets of Fire
Come Go With Me......American Hot Wax
We'll Meet Again.....Dr. Strangelove
Vashti Bunyan - Train Song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AGD78mWcss&list=PL023ADD05DB6C6BD6 ) [Sorry: don't know how to paste a link.]
Nice!
that's a better one. I first thought of Come on, Let's Go from La Bamba when they keep recording the same song over and over again.
joplin - the entertainer from The Sting and A Summer's Place theme.
It made the song popular again, 25 years (?) after it was released.
Mike Nichols was listening to Simon and Garfunkel during the making of Graduate and went to them about adding songs for the move
Simon has a half finished song called "Mrs Roosevelt" when Nichols heard it he immediately wanted for the film .. when Simon said .. this doesn't make any sense for this movie Nichols said just change the name to Mrs Robinson and it works perfectly .
Paul Simon: The Life by Robert Hilburn - ( New Window )
Louie Louie, Hey Hey Paula (that's a real song, right?), Shout, maybe even more.
You can barely go to a wedding where they play shout and not have people imitate the toga party scene from Animal House.
Bull Durham
Stand by Me
The Flamingo Kid
I like oldies...
