Newest Knicks Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, and Wes Matthews won't be active or playing in New York against the Celtics tonight. Not sure how the Knicks lineup will look without them but I'd say it's fair to put them as underdogs against the Celtics.

Anyone in the stands want to suit up?

Just LOSE baby!

Wise. I mean we don't have a pure PG in tonight. Allen's not a pure PG, is he?

We've replaced the Michigan Men with the Arizona Men!
Put me in coach, I'll play.

Is there any scenario where the Knicks can sign 2 max FAs and trade for Anthony Davis? They will be able to offer a very attractive package to New Orleans?

Kyrie needs to stop talking about leadership - heís terrible at it. Heís incredibly fun to watch, but if they traded him within the next 6 days... Iíd honestly be fine with it. Go to New York in July and play for the worst NBA owner of the 21st century. Good luck

If somehow Kyrie bolts this summer, they miss on AD, & they're stuck with Tatum, Hayward, Horford, & Brown. They were dreaming big. BIG. That's probably a playoff team in the East, but it sure as hell ain't winning a title.
Hopefully Dotson and Knox start at the 2/3

If Irving leaves we keep Rozier .... and still have multiple 1st picks ....
Give me Kemba over Kyrie

as part of a big duo/trio.

The Lakers current chips for Davis are trash. We can only hope New Orleans is serious about not serving him up on a platter to them. If it gets pushed to the summer, the Knicks have a great shot.

and what it means for the Knicks. Echos my feelings as well. Link - ( New Window )

The article is right about one thing - your opinion of the deal hinges entirely on your opinion of the Knicks front office and their ability to actually land superstar free agents. If you think they can actually do that, it's a great deal. Since I don't think they could lure a mouse with a block of cheese, I think it's yet another Knick folly.

Time will tell.

And what would you prefer them do instead?

I think we all know the answer is that you'd prefer they do exactly what they did so that you can complain about it. You'd think they personally pissed in your cheerios. Or worse (for you, anyway), went to Virginia Tech.

The next five months are basically like the time between when you buy a Mega Millions ticket and when the numbers are drawn. You can dream about all the things you'd do with the winnings, at least until you find out that you lost, which was the most likely scenario all along. Or, you can just immediately start thinking about the probability of losing in the first place as soon as you buy the ticket. As a fan, the team is buying that ticket on your behalf whether you like it or not - what's the benefit of choosing the doom and gloom outcome months before it actually happens?

Just strap on a fresh pair of big boy jorts and hope for the best. It doesn't cost you anything extra.
Did someone say they would take

Kemba and kyle zLowry
dep026 : 2/1/2019 1:21 pm : link
are so ridiculously overrated, its scary the amount of positive press they get.

How Lowry made the all-star team this year is scary. He at best is the Raptors 3rd best player, probably even 4th.

@NBADraftWass

Knicks upcoming draft picks:

2019: Top-4 overall pick + 2nd rd via ORL, CLE or HOU
2020: NYK 1st + CHA 2nd
2021: NYK 1st + DAL 1st (unprotected) + CHA 2nd
2022: NYK 1st + NYK 2nd
2023: NYK 1st + DAL 1st (protected 1-10) + NYK 2nd

I'll post this here too. We do not have a top 4 pick right now. That is impossible. We have a top 5 pick. If we move up in the standinds so does that number 5.

if they lose Kyrie to FA and miss out on Davis. Ton of assets and young talent.
agree with bill simmons
hitdog42 : 2/1/2019 2:32 pm : link
kyrie can be fun to watch, but 1) he isnt close to a leader so hearing him talk about that is a total joke 2) he doesnt make the players around him better 3) he gets hurt all the time.
Can't believe I'm about to type this but Evan and Joe
Stu11 : 2/1/2019 2:45 pm : link
really had a great, thoughtful take on the trade. They are definitely pro the deal. Listen I tend to side with Greg from LI in that the Knicks couldn't lure a hooker into the Garden with a million dollars in their hand. However I also agree with Mook and others in that they are swinging for the fences here and as long as they don't waste the room on mediocrity they are still in good shape for a re-build even if they strike out with KD/Kyrie/Kahwi etc...Again that also means you have to have faith in an organization that has proved for decades they are a train wreck combined with an air disaster, with a splash of Titanic. I'm willing to give Perry the benefit of the doubt here. Unlike Walsh who was a great old school GM but totally out of touch with the modern players and the way it is played now, Perry is definitely more in touch with them. One has to have true faith that he can pull this off with free agents. I'll believe it when I see it but why not hope. Evan and Joe's main point was that even if they strike out this summer they are still in position to re-build with a ton of picks going forward. The 2 of them are the furthest thing you can get from Garden shills.

Do they have a ton of assets? Need to extend Rozier this summer and Brown next. Hayward is making a ton of money and looks like a shell of himself. This concept is sooo overblown. The clippers and kings making runs this year really hurt them, imo

That roster is much more than a playoff team -- that group minus Hayward essentially went to a conference championship.

If Kyrie bolts and that draws Thompson or KD away from GS, that opens up the path to a championship for lots of teams, including the Celtics.

GS is still king -- and the Bucks, Raptors, Cs, and 6ers aren't a threat for a ring until something chips away there.

I canít and wonít claim #Knicks are definitely getting a top free agent because they have missed in the past and I have nothing definitive at the moment. What I will say with certainty is several within the organization are very confident at the moment almost borderline cocky.

Has Jason Kidd's son been right about anything in the last 3 years?
No clue. I guess he can take credit for Lee finally being traded.

He's been reporting it for three years. Didn't mention KP would be in the deal, too.
well of course they're confident
Greg from LI : 2/1/2019 3:58 pm : link
They wouldn't have gone this route if they weren't. That's not important - the question is, do they have a reason for being confident? That's what is far more shaky.

Is none of these guys want to play in Boston. Itís a small, provincial, cold city full of racist white people. I donít know if itís a bottom-half NBA city but itís not near the top. In no particular order you would definitely put New York, LA, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, San Francisco and Chicago above it. Probably Dallas, Philly and Orlando as well.
