Beezer : 2/1/2019 10:20 am
Don't mind taking the bus, don't mind taking the train,
Don't mind wearing walking shoes
or running through the rain.

Knicks on Friday night, MSG is the place to be,
Whatever it takes to make it here, I'll do it all again.

Hey, I gotta get there fast as I can,
I gotta get there, Friday night Knicks I'm a fan,
I gotta get there please understand,
I'm talking Friday night Knicks
on MSG ... gotta front row seat gotta get there!

+++

OK, so perfect timing, Celtics at Knicks (also on ESPN) tonight.

Kyrie in the house! Everything will be hyper-analyzed.

Will the expirings (Jordan/Matthews) get minutes? Will DSJ start? Will Kanter play?

+++

Intrigue! Get your popcorn!

Friday night Knicks!

With approaching 600 posts on yesteday's thread,
Beezer : 2/1/2019 10:26 am : link
thought I'd point us toward tonight.

Jeff Van Gundy said this morning that knowing the people involved (Knicks FO people, he means), and knowing that "no one follows the rules" (as in, everyone talks along back channels about what players/agents are doing/thinking), he thinks there is NO WAY the Knicks made this trade to send Porzingas away without some serious knowledge that they will be getting big names (ie, Durant/Irving).

Was good to hear. No idea if what Van Gundy says is valid. But it felt nice. lol

What Van Gundy said is common sense
Chris684 : 2/1/2019 10:27 am : link
despite the mass hysteria on the other thread.
well, if Jeff Van Quitter is all in

I think DSJ has to play

I mean Mudiay and Frank are injured, no? Who else do they have at PG? Trier? Allen?

Yeesh.

Knicks upcoming draft picks:

2019: Top-4 overall pick + 2nd rd via ORL, CLE or HOU
2020: NYK 1st + CHA 2nd
2021: NYK 1st + DAL 1st (unprotected) + CHA 2nd
2022: NYK 1st + NYK 2nd
2023: NYK 1st + DAL 1st (protected 1-10) + NYK 2nd
JVG is obviously guessing
Vanzetti : 2/1/2019 10:37 am : link
But it is certainly an educated guess given his NBA experience.

So much stuff from so many angles ... but one thing I heard - I believe it was last night - is that the stuff Kyrie is saying to the Celtics and in the media is NOT the same as what Kyrie is saying to friends and those in his "circle." Meaning, he's looking for options, and it's not quite the slam-dunk he stays in Boston as many might think.
Sort of related, but not exactly ...
Beezer : 2/1/2019 10:38 am : link
... couple night ago while doing highlights on MSG, Billy Pidto made the comment while doing the Celtics highlights that with Kyrie out of the lineup (that night), the ball moves MUCH better for Boston.

Kyrie has to be a Robin - he cant be Batman.

As KD's wingman it would work. Just like it did with LeBron.

The article is right about one thing - your opinion of the deal hinges entirely on your opinion of the Knicks front office and their ability to actually land superstar free agents. If you think they can actually do that, it's a great deal. Since I don't think they could lure a mouse with a block of cheese, I think it's yet another Knick folly.

Time will tell.

I'll post this here too. We do not have a top 4 pick right now. That is impossible. We have a top 5 pick. If we move up in the standinds so does that number 5.
That's the thing.
Beezer : 2/1/2019 10:46 am : link
This trade as a standalone really is tough to judge.

This particular iterations, specifically, of the Knicks decision-makers ... have they made a misstep yet? Hardaway, but they've fixed that.

I guess as fan, I have a need to stay optimistic. Maybe, MAYBE enough has changed internally that this breaks the right way for a change.
Don't want Kyrie, no spring chicken, injuries,

I'm still holding out hope on Davis
Chris684 : 2/1/2019 10:47 am : link
Now or later we need to put something together.

They can have 2019 1st, Dallas 2021 unprotected 1st, and any one of the following:

Dallas 2023 protected 1st, Knox, DSJ, Robinson.

My dream is Kemba, Durant and Davis.
We ready...

It s possibilitiy Irving leaves, but far from decided.

My dream right now is probably KD, Leonard, and Morant. If AD is possible then great as long as it doesn't deprive the team of all other talent. They can have some young kids and picks but we still need a supporting cast. That would be amazing.
Knicks could have knowledge of who might sign

Newest Knicks Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, and Wes Matthews won't be active or playing in New York against the Celtics tonight. Not sure how the Knicks lineup will look without them but I'd say it's fair to put them as underdogs against the Celtics.

Anyone in the stands want to suit up?

I hope your BBI negativity is mostly a schtick. Can't imagine being such a crotchety old man at such a young age. Hell, I qualify as crotchety old man, and I try to stay optimistic, yet realistic. Hell of a lot more fun.

there are more and more positive articles today, praising the Knick trade. Not only do they open up two max spots meaning a max guy can bring another max guy with him, but with seven first round picks over the next five years, this year's first likely to be a top 5, young, inexpensive young, potentially good players like Knox, Trier, Robinson, Smith Jr, Frank, they have a lot of trade capital.

Can they also trade for a max guy?

Things will be very very interesting on July 1st.

one excellent aspect of tonight's game:
Del Shofner : 2/1/2019 11:24 am : link
no Tim Hardaway Jr.!

Has there been a Knick more hated on BBI in recent years?

We may see some Westchester guys tonight.
Every avenue toward building a contender is wide open to the Knicks.
bceagle05 : 2/1/2019 11:34 am : link
If they fail to do so, they have only themselves to blame. A ton of cap space in a year with several legit superstars with rings, surplus of draft picks, young players to be developed or used as trade chips - it's a blank canvas right now.

Is there any scenario where the Knicks can sign 2 max FAs and trade for Anthony Davis? They will be able to offer a very attractive package to New Orleans?

Kyrie needs to stop talking about leadership - hes terrible at it. Hes incredibly fun to watch, but if they traded him within the next 6 days... Id honestly be fine with it. Go to New York in July and play for the worst NBA owner of the 21st century. Good luck

If somehow Kyrie bolts this summer, they miss on AD, & they're stuck with Tatum, Hayward, Horford, & Brown. They were dreaming big. BIG. That's probably a playoff team in the East, but it sure as hell ain't winning a title.
Hopefully Dotson and Knox start at the 2/3
