Utah has had exploratory discussions with Memphis on a potential swap headlined by Mike Conley and Ricky Rubio in advance of next week's trade deadline, according to league sources. For those talks to progress all the way to a deal, though, would require additional pieces as well as Utah absorbing the two years and $66 million remaining on Conley's contract -- which is obviously steep. The Jazz have undeniable interest in Conley as the deadline approaches, league sources say, but it is a big step up financially from Rubio's $15 million expiring deal. Memphis is believed to covet prime draft compensation in a trade involving either Conley or Marc Gasol.

This!

Hopefully we can move Kanter, Jordan, Mudiay, Matthews, Hezonia etc.
For picks.
They need to get as many draft assets as possible

They should basically only keep Knox, DSJ, Robinson and Kornet. Maybe Dotson too. See what a team is willing to give up for Vonleh.
a very interesting response from Kyrie today
PhilSimms15 : 2/1/2019 11:19 am : link
There are lots of rumbles around the NBA that the Knicks would not have made the KP trade unless they were reasonably sure they could sign at least one if not two max guys.

And Kyrie today backed off his promise to resign with the Celtics.

I feel like he is a lock to come to NY if they will have him but he is not the prize.
If you don't get Leonard, Durant and/or Williamson it will be another Melo situation.
Kyrie isolation all night will be miserable.

Unintentional. He slipped my mind. Sorry
If they think Kyrie is coming to NY
giants#1 : 2/1/2019 12:02 pm : link
then I'd move DSJ who seems like a poor man's Kyrie at this point. I don't see how those two could play together.
Honestly DSJ is pretty similar to Trier
NoGainDayne : 2/1/2019 12:05 pm : link
and not much better IMO (although I do think DSJ does have higher upside)

And that is another thing that on the surface bothered me about this trade if the "prize" you get back is redundant to a undrafted rookie you probably didn't do to well.

That's what I said in the other thread. If they got Kyrie and that was it, they'd probably dangle their first rounder AND DSJ for AD.
I don't like
GiantGrit : 2/1/2019 12:08 pm : link
How the players are clearly colluding to pick where they go. O well. At this point, why not just downsize the league since some small market teams are horrible.

Rant over. I think its obvious now, AD is ending up in LA. KD and Kyrie are going to the Knicks. Klay and Kawhi are interesting. I think Klay stays. What will Kawhi do? Many think he is going to the Clippers, but why would we want to sign there if he's in the shadow of the Lakers?

Hoping the Nets can get a solid stretch 4 at the deadline.

Hell, I thought DSJ was very similar to Mudiay. Score-first PGs who can't shoot and can't play defense.

Good luck with that. Highly doubt they can get anything for those guys.

Sources: The Lakers have offered the Pelicans two of their talented young players -- among Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, Josh Hart -- with Rondo or Stephenson as core parts of a deal. For Pelicans, these have not been remotely serious offers.

Thats a pretty meh package.

Is anybody else a little concerned with the Knicks going so hard after a 30 year old player who has had foot problems in the past in Durant? Im not as tuned as most, but that struck me as fairly risky.

Also, why Kyrie? Yes he is a phenomenal scorer but hes another PG who doesnt defend.

I would think the prime targets for FA should be Davis and Leonard. That would be an enormous get that doesnt sacrifice one side of the ball.

I could absolutely see Ainge moving Irving. The uncertainty isn't worth the risk.

The perfect place would actually be the Lakers lol.

The NBA fined AD for his public trade request or something. This is AD's way of making it known it is basically Lakers or bust. Of course he is trying to limit the options. They are trying to strong arm NO into trading him to the Lakers for shit.

It is risky the way you propose it. If we tradr for AD there is no guarantee with sign another max guy and AD could leave after next year. KD and Kyrie have wanted to play together and NY has been a rumored destination. Yes, I would love Leonard but who is coming with him? A lot of times these guys want to choose who they go with. Plus, NY has not been a FA destination. Why would anybody want to come here? There are a lpt of reasons to stay away. However, it is pretty well known that KD wants to come here so you embrace thay.
I also laugh at the BBI posters

Why? It's not a LeBron situation where the Cavs were legitimately close in his first stint. The Pelicans haven't come close to building a competitive team with AD aside from acquiring Boogie Cousins but neither could stay healthy in the long term

They had boogie, AD, and went and got Holiday. I bet he wasnt so unhappy when they threw all that money at him the first time, right?

You signed a contract, fucking honor it. You want to be traded... keep it in house. Dont be a bitch about it.
And I got into an argument earlier this week
dep026 : 2/2/2019 8:33 am : link
In regards to players having too much power.

In order to appease AD, they gave up Hiedl who was their first round pick in 2016. Also their 2017 first round pick. And also traded their 2018 first pick for Mirotic.

All this was done to appease him and they mortgaged their future to make him happy. Now hes publicly ripping them and asking out?

Bitch move. They should hold onto him... never play him. Tank for years. Cause getting a shit package back from LA will only hurt their future.

Hes not a FA until after next year. What do AD and his dad care what the Pelicans get in return? They dont want him to have to play a year in a place he doesnt want to be with his FA looming and all the attention that comes with that.
