NFT: Supe or salad- What are you eating tomorrow?

Bill in UT : 2/2/2019 5:27 pm
I'm having a group of 10. Into my second day of getting ready.

Apps-
Chips and good old Lipton onion dip
Chunky Guac
Salted snap peas
Caprese
Caviar pie
Deep fried shrimp with roasted garlic aioli, marinara, cocktail sauce
Oven baked wings with spice rub, Alabama bbq sauce

Main-
Spaghetti 3 ways:
1- Jeff Mauro's Sunday Gravy with meatballs, Italian suasage, and baby back ribs (pretty similar to Meadowlander's, my second choice, but about 4 hours less cooking time. I will do that recipe though, one of these days)
2- White clam sauce
3- Meat free Leone's spaghetti sauce (tomato, green peppers, eggplant) I've always made it with the sausage it's supposed to be done with, but I've got a vegetarian coming over. I've been making this since I first went to Mama Leone's and got her son Gene Leone's cookbook almost 50 years ago.

Dessert-
1- Barefoot Contessa's Outrageous brownies (and they are)
2-NY Cheesecake with strawberry sauce
3- Homemade vanilla ice cream

A labor of love. Gates open at 3pm, local time, 1 1/2 hours before gametime. It'll be basically wine consumed here, probably some Chianti for myself.
Wings.

I made it yesterday, so good.

Also made white bean, chicken chili, also excellent

and sweet and sour kielbasa. not special, but the kids love it.

Needed to "celebrate" the Super Bowl last night, had hockey all day today and going on a business trip at noon tomorrow.

This is my second year doing the SB at home. I started making a menu then noticed I'd made chili last year and wanted to change it around this year. But some things are just so good and appropriate, I'll have to bring it back in the near future.

Jimmy, my man! The wife loves raspberries, but doesn't do well with the seeds anymore. The cheesesteaks- what kind of meat, what kind of cheese? So many choices.
By myself prolly. Going to a small sports bar resto

with really fine food at reasonable prices. Prolly go for the medallions of beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon with a side salad with blue cheese dressing and a nice IPA or maybe a glass of red... But football and wine really don't match up IMO.
Damn...

I made the chili yesterday, to take one job off our plate today. We had it for dinner, and it was fantastic. Even my 3 year old enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Pretty much... go to the butcher and buy quality dogs and sometime do it with Keilbasa. Easy and always a crowd pleaser.

Hi Bill.

I use ribeye steaks as they have a decent fat content. Melted provolone sauce. Sauteed peppers and onions. Hoagie rolls of course.

I like to put them together and then cut them up into smaller bite-sized (several bites) to make them more user friendly while standing around.

I'm drooling, Jimmy. That said, at my age, I drool a lot :) I've got my gravy going. Last item to prepare. But I've got more time because it's earlier out here.
Sounds fabulous. Remember to stir that gravy

and don't let it burn! Recall many Googs family meals where mom and grandma would do the big italian sunday supper for us all.

I think i enjoyed the sausage or meatball sandwich late night snack around or next day just as much...
