NFT: Netflix cancelling Travelers

Tony in Tampa : 2/2/2019 8:46 pm
Tough for fans of the show who really enjoyed the 3 seasons. But I guess I was not surprised since the S3 finally really wrapped everything up and felt like a series finally.

While I'll miss the show I guess it's nice that it went out on a high note and left us wanting more. Better than it sticking around for too many seasons and getting stale.
Thats a show

Absolutely. Smart sci-fi with a likeable cast. Very different show from Brad Wright's Stargate but grabs you and is very bingeable.
Oh my....

I didn’t expect this news. I’m on episode 7 of season 3 and it looks to me like they have a lot of material left. I can’t believe they wrap it all up in these next three episodes.
That sucks

On season 2. While I like the show I always had a problem with why the hell do these people who come back give a shit about the lives they take over?

Ok let me say the only one character who made any sense to retain his identity is the FBI agent but besides that makes no sense.

So as not to spoil it for you I'll say this. Its the kind of ending/wrap upon that you can only get away with in sci-fi.

I would argue that they need those identities to maintain a place in society. You couldn't just take over someone and abandon their lives, famlies. That would lead to too many questions which could possibly end up doing more harm and effect the mission the travelers were there to do

Also, the lives they took over becomes kind of a back story and sort of humanizes the character of the traveler. Would not work theatrically without it.

I get that from a theatrical standpoint and is probably why it's in the show. It be rather boring without those backstories. However these people are coming back to change the future too many times i thought these people let these lives get in the way of their mission. Which to me is totally not believable but I get it need it for the show to work.

I always wanted learn more about the travelers lives in the future. We only heard about their bleak lives from them in the present. I wanted to see them away from the host personas. I guess if the show had continued we would have seen episodes with the travelers actual lives from the future.

As to why keep the involvement with the lives of their hosts. It didn't bother me that much. I take it it did for some. We heard a lot of their extensive training to join the traveler program. I guess part of that training would be maintaining the continuity with the lives of their host for practical reasons...but that's just my specultation

I would of assumed the opposite but that's fine. Agreed on wish we saw more from what was going on in the future.
