Where do you find offensive line stats like sacks allowed?

Ira : 2/3/2019 6:06 am
Also pressures and hurries allowed and penalties. I was thinking about Will Hernandez's rookie season and wanted to find that info, but couldn't. It would be nice to be able to find those stats for any nfl offensive linemen.

OLine stats

You may be able to find stats like that but they won't be accurate.

To determine who's responsible for a given sack or pressure you would have to know the pass protection scheme, the checks at the line of scrimmage by the quarterback, and the pre-snap communication among the adjacent linemen. In the case of Will Hernandez, that would include the hand signals and verbal cues he receives from the center and the left tackle.

You would also need to know the launch point of the quarterback. Throughout his career, Eli Manning's launch point has typically been the inside leg of the right guard. That's his spot. When the quarterback starts drifting, left or right, he changes the blocking angles for his linemen. That's why, in the NFL, most sacks are the fault of the quarterback.

The only people who know for sure are the players and coaches. That's why these analytical websites have so little value. They're unfamiliar with the hidden game of football.

DM me on Twitter (dont think I Can post it in here), if you want WH's stats for pressures, etc. Lot of good comments in here about launch point, etc. The stats from PFF do a nice job of not attributing sacks but showing defeats essentially, which is something I have charted for some games for the Giants. It doesnt do a bad job of giving the snapshot. For a guy like WH, where if falls short sometimes is contextually when say, in the Atlanta game Solder missed picking up a stunt and Hernandez's pass off became a sack. Thats not a defeat, etc.
