But I always come at games from a defensive point of view, so my viewpoint is probably different than most. Heck, my favorite Giants game of all time ended 15-13; not exactly a game filled with offensive explosiveness. That seems to be what everyone wants now; anything short of a 20 something/20 something game is considered to be boring.
Time. Have obviously warmed to it now. But would love to hear an argument of how Darnold, Allen and Rosen are definitely better than Goff after that abysmal game
Judging by the comments online, social media etc Â

holding on Hamilton on the INT TD return... imagine if there was social media back then.
Another stupid one was, oh, what's his face, the big DT from the Patriots, who got pancaked, which negated a big run by Big Brandon Jacobs. He was later caught on tape admitting it was a bad call to the refs.
I hear some people call it a "Defensive Battle". What I think I saw was 2 teams that played like they didn't belong there - Very uninspired.
Seems like it could have been a game played back in early October .... where the mindset toward the games don't seem as important (yes I know they are ALL important).

You only have to go back to the Seattle Denver game a few years back to find a more boring game. This game was much better than watching a blowout. From the late 80's to the early 90's the games were over so early they were hard to watch, the Giants Bills game being a major exception.
as I thought the rest (the commercials, the halftime show) were terrible. No really cool commercials (aside from the one with all the ex and current NFL players), and the halftime show was pretty bad to me (maybe some enjoyed that, I sure didn't).

Plenty to add to that:
49ers 49 - Chargers 26 - not as close as the score
Redskins 42 - Broncos 10
Bucs 48 - Raiders 20
Ravens 34 - NFC opponents 7
Cowboys 52 - Bills 17
Cowbosy 30 - Bills 13
Colts 16 - Cowboys 13 - sounds great. Close game decided on= last second FG but both teams were dreadful.Neither deserved to win. Famous SI cover calling it "The Blooper Bowl".
Collins wasn't good in that game, but his OL couldn't handle the Ravens up front at all... and it was the old guys (Lomas Brown and Glenn Parker) who struggled the most.

Collins was scared shitless...Eli never had that same look in his eyes the last few years, even with a putrid OL.
total snooze fest and to me the Rams never had a chance even when it was 3-3.
I actually thought they had momentum at 3-3 and for a second it looked like they had tied it at 10-10. Pats did not seem in control until their last drive when they converted a couple of first downs but prior to that I could see them losing. Maybe says more about them than the Rams but still there was some suspense for me until the last 3 minutes or so.
On a different subject, what stood out to me is the utter lack of a vertical game in the Pats' offense. Amazing team when you consider that fact. They are limited in what they can do, but it doesn't seem to matter.
this wasn't a great defense like Bears or Ravens, but a great defensive plan. or at the least, a very good one.
I won't argue with you too much on this because it is certainly possible that the Pats' defense was so fundamentally sound that the Rams looked inept.
But I just didn't see a lot of "ooh" and "ahh" plays by the defense. I did see fundamentally sound run defense. I'd be curious to see what the longest running play was because it felt like the Rams never broke a run more than 5 yards (other than the one that called back due to holding).
That's why I though the run defense was the MVP.
And I hear you about the pass rush, but I thought it was on and off. I thought it was more about Goff being overwhelmed by the game. I have no idea what the Rams were trying to do.

The real SB was Chiefs-Rams on Monday Night Football.

that made it a boring game.
I thought the Pats' run defense was outstanding but I didn't think it was a particularly sharp defensive game by either team.
The Rams' offense laid a major egg. And Tom Brady was off much of the night except that one great throw down to the goal line.
My MVP's were:
(1) the Pats' run defense.
(2) Pats' punter
(3) Edelman
At times. But there were plenty of times where Goff had time. I was really unimpressed with him and Gurley. Gurley was terrible the last two games.
I didn't feel like I was watching the '85 Bears or '00 Ravens. It felt more like the game was too big for the Rams.
Rams biggest issue was they had no plan or the wrong plan for Edelman.
Bellichek is man among boys. Coughlin seemed to have cracked his code though
