I like defense, but I also enjoy a semblance of an offensive ball game. Tonight’s game felt like a Giants win in 1997 and I think Danny Kannell would have played better than Goff did tonight.
He looked shook the entire game. I know Dont’a Hightower is a good player, but when did he turn into Carl Banks?

I was just talking about him with a friend tonight. I watched a lengthy interview with Kanell last week on You Tube and he admitted that he didn't put the effort into his game and game prep that he should've to make himself a better player. Said if he stayed later watching film and making a better effort to show how serious he was at working to be a great NFL pro QB maybe the Giants wouldn't have cut him like they did. Said his heart was also in playing baseball and he wasn't 100% committed to QB mentally. I remember at the time even during his win streak in '97 after taking over for Brown I was never totally on board with him as The Guy
the Rams defense got stuck with terrible field position and was on the field too long, yet only gave-up 13 points. How do the Rams lose that game!? What happened to Goff, Gurley and the Rams offensive line. I thought I was watching the Giants offense (minus Barkley)...
So outcome would likely have been the same. And Brees had not been playing all that well.
I can’t stand the scum, but Sean Payton wouldn’t have been as overwhelmed as McVay. He’s a great playcaller and has the luxury of Brees to get them into even better plays. The Saints wth two weeks to prepare would have been considerably more productive.
but boy genius McVay certainly didn't help. He was badly outcoached. Couldn't figure out how to slow down NE pressure even when they were rushing 4. His passing scheme played right into NE's hands - everything either short over the middle or deep downfield.
was the only redeeming feature of this Superbowl. I hope Sean Payton spent the whole night lamenting about how he could have won this game, if only he didn't get screwed.
I couldn't be happier that a team got jobbed that badly. The Saints organization deserves it.
really showed their character with all the complaining they did. Yes, they could have won if it wasn't for the missed DPI, but they also could have lost.
Furthermore, contrast their game with the AFCC. Both Brady and Brees got the ball to start the game. Brady threw a TD, Brees threw an INT.
That was the difference between winning and losing, and FAR more important than the missed DPI, which happens to every team all the time.
Don't want a chance to get screwed like that? Don't play high-risk ball. Run the ball when you're in obvious field goal position. Or play the risks and DON'T CRY WHEN YOU LOSE.
If he didn't whine after the last round, he would have whined after the Super Bowl. I'm glad they were watching from home, and I hope that salt stings.

Don't forget: Payton and Brees opted to pass at the end of the game when they could have run out the clock. If they had run, like a competent team would have done, instead of playing Madden, there would not have been any overtime, and they would have been on the field last night.

I really think the NFL died tonight.

bingo.
But as stated, Brees would not have performed like a college freshman as Goff did.

One of the few happy moments for me this year
