Jeremy Woo suggested a 3 way deal in which the Knicks would send Jordan or Matthews (plus 2 1st round picks) or Kanter, Knox and 1 first round pick to Boston for Irving who would then send Brown, Smart, Morris and "picks" to NO for Anthony Davis.

LaVar Ball tells ESPN that if Lonzo Ball is traded, he wants his son to go to Phoenix: We want to be in LA. But if hes traded, I dont want Lonzo in New Orleans. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I am going to speak it into existence.
I hadn't heard from LaVar in a couple of months. I wish that streak had continued.
he also did a show with jacoby replacing jalen where he says knicks basically consukted kd before trading kp
before the knicks game chauncey was laughing at him because when chauncey said kyrie is gone paul flipped out...
everytime pierce talks beadle can not stop laughing at him
Nailed it!
Shut your pie hole or offer up something new
it would be awesome if he was traded and at his press congerence he was asked if he was staying long term and basically said nope i am signing with the knicks
i think durant is thr guy knicks "know" they can get...
I think the costar is up in the air
Seems legit, though I'm sure it'll be a rollercoaster between now and July. I go back to AD's list - he knows he needs to play with a star if he wants a ring, and two of his four teams don't currently have one. Stars must be on their way to the Clippers and Knicks.

This is how I feel although I do think there are reasons for optimism with Kyrie as well. The biggest one being Davis surprising list of teams that includes the Knicks and not the Celtics. I dont think it happens without KD coming on but I think KD likely comes regardless.
leonard going to clippers or staying in toronto
Especially if we get Zion id rather sign KD and Irving and keepthe our youth so when kd and irving get old we have a future stilll...
i am also nnot 100 percent sold on signing irving
if they sign irving and durant, i am going opening night, i want the mavs opening night..
just so kp can see what hr stupidly walked away from
i feel like he is a lock for clippers

If that actually happened, would KP wanting out be the thing that made it possible, though? IOW, impossible if they hadn't traded him.
First step is to get a top two pick first. I'd keep Zion and team him with KD + Kyrie with the rest of the youngsters. If we have the second pick, I think it'd still be attractive enough for Pelicans in a potential trade for AD. I don't know about trading every player we have now with all the picks for AD though. Looking at the rumored Lakers offer, I don't think we'd need to fork over everything for AD, especially if the Pelicans want to spite him.

it seems like the knicks were trading him no matter what...
I dont think he wanted out, i think him and his brother tried a power play and it failed...
Knicks were supposedly looking to create 2 max slots for months
All of the above, in my opinion...
if they were happy with kp why worry about seeing what you can get for him?
Kanter
L. Thomas
Knox
Frank
Robinson
4 first round picks
for
AD
D. Miller
Then we signed Durant. Instead of Kyrie what would our ability to sign say DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and / or Vonleh be?
I'm pretty sure due to my understanding of cap holds etc. we couldn't do AD, KD, Jordan and Matthews but there are also some confusing rules in there that I don't entirely understand.
I mean im guessing you could sign Jordan/Mathews if you wanted to, but im not sure that would be the best use of the money.
Cap holds dont really matter here because you would renounce jordan/mathews because their cap holds would be huge. That just means we couldnt go over the cap to resign them.
Regardless, I kept hearing Rothenberg claim that if the Knicks signed someone like Jimmy Butler it would be a complete failure. I don't necessarily disagree, but I also feel like Butler is a better all around player than KP, personality issues aside. So my question to Rothenberg would have been, if signing Butler would be a failure, how come keeping KP wouldn't have been?
All that setup is my long and boring way of asking, were do you guys think KP falls in this list of free agents? In a hypothetical world where KP was suddenly available right now on the open market, I think I would be upset if the Knicks gave out max money to a guy coming off of injury, with personality questions and only 10 games of truly high level play.
If kp was not 22 he would not come close to a max on the open market, even at 22 i would not max him, he is going to be out 20 months before he plays again...

If knicks did:
Lance, hezonja, knox, frank, mudiay, 2019 first, 2 mavs firsts, for ad...
you still have 70 million to sign to max with ability to get 74 if you release trier and dot
Personally dont expect the knicks to do much due to the salary restrictions. We need a team like BKN or the Clips or someone like that to want an upgrade. The top teams just dont ahve the salaries to make it work.
they can clear another 11 just by releasing lance, trier and dot

Its just your average anti-Knick bias. When the Knicks had KP, the talking heads would talk about his inability to stay healthy due to his body type and that Knick fans overrated him and they said it was mostly projection. Now that hes gone, hes all of a sudden a superstar already? Given his personality, I could see him not panning out. He seems far more concerned with little things, less so basketball. Hell probably be a model citizen in Dallas because they seem to have that sort of luck but here he mightve been a disaster on a max deal

The $74 mil number is kind of phony though; it assumes Lance is already cut, Triers option is declined, Dotson is released and Knick's pick falls to 5th overall. Its the max amount of cap space they can get. Don't know how this will look formatting wise here, but this excel has the right breakdown of next years cap space. Dotson might not fit into the cap space if they get the first overall pick as the scenario below literally would give them 200 grand left in space if you replace two rookie min contracts with Durant and Irvings max. If they dont end up with the first pick overall though they can easily fit Dotson's cap figure into the fold.
Player 2019-2020
1 Kevin Knox $4,380,120.00
2 Frank Ntilikina $4,855,800.00
3 Mitchell Robinson $1,559,712.00
4 Allonzo Trier $3,551,100.00
5 Dennis Smith Jr $4,463,640.00
6 1st Rd Pick $8,120,700.00
7 2nd Rd Pick $896,885.00
8 Rookie Min $896,885.00
9 Rookie Min $896,885.00
10 Rookie Min $896,885.00
11 Rookie Min $896,885.00
12 Rookie Min $896,885.00
Lance Thomas Dead $1,000,000.00
Joakim Noah Dead $6,431,667.00
Projected Cap $109,000,000.00
Cost against cap $39,744,049.00
Available Cap Space $69,255,951.00

Well, they for sure should release Lance. The other two, no.

Rothenberg isn't rational. He goes off emotion.
The only way KP is worth a max deal is if that contract had lots of injury protection like the Embiid contract. Even the most optimistic KP fan can't say he's a clear cut max player on the same tier as KD or Davis. I think he's a #2 star, which I'd say Kyrie is as well.

How does he not realize that he has basically zero input as to where Lonzo will be traded to? I know he can be dumb most of the time (especially when he doesn't realize that the players in his JBA aren't getting paid), but he can't be that dumb. At this rate Lonzo won't be getting a 2nd contract if LaVar opens his mouth.
Whatever happened to all 3 of his sons playing for the Lakers?
