nobody has said these picks suck because there are no defensive players. Haha. I guess BBI is growing up and realizing that all of your problems cannot be cured with a first round pick or even second. Defense aside, if they are all in on Haskins and believe he is a franchise guy then I am all for it. I do think we address the OL in FA but if we don't this is perfectly fine with me. I believe that we need to protect our assets.
The NFL isn't a balanced sport. Every team has weaknesses. Look at Luck. He is a great QB and Indy neglected the OL for years and what happened? Luck got beat down. So, this offseason they addressed the OL and Luck played much better. We need to invest in our OL to get Beckham, Barkley, Eli, Engram, etc. to live up to what they are capable of.
I said this before and I will say it again. I don't want us drafting Barkley and saying that he will make our shitty OL look better. It should be that we drafted Barkley so what can we put around him to get the best out of him. Same can be said for Eli. Eli shouldn't have been thought about has being able to mask the deficiencies of the OL over his career. If Eli was our super bowl winning QB then they should have done what is necessary to give him the best chance to reach his ceiling.
Therefore, while I would love to have a heavy defensive draft, I think the best way for this team to see immediate success imo is to fix that OL. If that OL gets fixed then we can kind of be like Dallas was a few years ago. Have that dominant OL, control the clock, and keep your defense off the field. By doing that Dallas was able to be very competitive and then used the next few years to bulid up their defense. Now their defense has some legit players on it. Now Dallas isn't exactly the team we should be modeling ourselves after but their shortcomings have more to do with QB play, coaching, culture, and salary cap issues for years although they seem to be in a much better spot now.
I expect he won't. Unless the other QB needy teams pick up and take a chance on a FA QB. And/or that maybe they like Lock and Jones and willing to wait for them to come to them.
Do they make that huge investment just to have him sit on the bench? IMHO here is what happens, they draft Haskins, the first INT Eli throws fans will be screaming for Haskins, the first INT he throws fans will be screaming he's a bust!

I expect their plan would be to have him sit for most or all of the season, as Mahomes did. But if the team starts 2-5 or 3-6 they'd probably get him on the field and end the Eli Manning era. Might as well get the new QB, Barkley and OBJ on the field together and see if you really have young triplets.

I’ve been screaming defense but it’s hard to argue with this. Take a strength and make it dominant.
These mock drafts are such a waste of time. Fun to read, I guess, but certainly not anything worth putting stock in to. They are all just some writers opinion. When Gettleman decides to post his mock draft, well, that one I will pay attention to.
I think the Giants pass on Haskins and I think they should Â

Fans are idiots, thats no reason not to take him
Picking for need over value is what leads to wasted first round picks.
I'm not sure if Haskins should be the pick or not - but I am sure he shouldn't be the pick only b/c the Giants must take a QB at all costs.

+1. Look at the Flowers pick, that’s what happens when you force things.

That make declarative statements about how the Giants "can't afford to pass on quarterbacks again in 2019".
