mdthedream : 2/5/2019 9:10 am
Has the Giants taking QB-Haskins and OT-Greg Little Ole Miss.
Link - ( New Window )
I would
mdthedream : 2/5/2019 9:15 am : link
be happy with this.
Dwayne Haskins thread of the day!!!!
dep026 : 2/5/2019 9:17 am : link
woo hoo!
Little would be a nice pick in the 2nd.
yatqb : 2/5/2019 9:27 am : link
But we'd sure need to improve the defense in FA if we went offense with the first two picks.
I'd be perfectly fine
Rocky369 : 2/5/2019 9:30 am : link
completing the offensive line and finding the next quarterback.
Not sure about Haskins
Capt. Don : 2/5/2019 9:30 am : link
but if Risner and Little were still there for our #2 pick, I would be thrilled.
Improve the OL
Samiam : 2/5/2019 9:32 am : link
Get a good running game, control the clock and get a lead, and the defense will improve also.
I have yet to see a mock

Draft that doesn’t have Giants taking Haskins.

No QB's picked
Doomster : 2/5/2019 9:33 am : link
before #6? I doubt it....
Has there been a mock since the end of the season
The_Boss : 2/5/2019 9:48 am : link
That DOESN’T have the NYG taking Haskins?
I'm actually shocked
robbieballs2003 : 2/5/2019 9:55 am : link
nobody has said these picks suck because there are no defensive players. Haha. I guess BBI is growing up and realizing that all of your problems cannot be cured with a first round pick or even second. Defense aside, if they are all in on Haskins and believe he is a franchise guy then I am all for it. I do think we address the OL in FA but if we don't this is perfectly fine with me. I believe that we need to protect our assets.

The NFL isn't a balanced sport. Every team has weaknesses. Look at Luck. He is a great QB and Indy neglected the OL for years and what happened? Luck got beat down. So, this offseason they addressed the OL and Luck played much better. We need to invest in our OL to get Beckham, Barkley, Eli, Engram, etc. to live up to what they are capable of.

I said this before and I will say it again. I don't want us drafting Barkley and saying that he will make our shitty OL look better. It should be that we drafted Barkley so what can we put around him to get the best out of him. Same can be said for Eli. Eli shouldn't have been thought about has being able to mask the deficiencies of the OL over his career. If Eli was our super bowl winning QB then they should have done what is necessary to give him the best chance to reach his ceiling.

Therefore, while I would love to have a heavy defensive draft, I think the best way for this team to see immediate success imo is to fix that OL. If that OL gets fixed then we can kind of be like Dallas was a few years ago. Have that dominant OL, control the clock, and keep your defense off the field. By doing that Dallas was able to be very competitive and then used the next few years to bulid up their defense. Now their defense has some legit players on it. Now Dallas isn't exactly the team we should be modeling ourselves after but their shortcomings have more to do with QB play, coaching, culture, and salary cap issues for years although they seem to be in a much better spot now.
I'd be very happy with that entire draft!!
barens : 2/5/2019 10:13 am : link
They didn't include compensatory picks, but coming away with Mitch Hyatt and Greg Little, LB Gary Johnson, and Austin Bryant, that would be a win.
I'm hoping Haskins will be there but after the combine
Blue21 : 2/5/2019 10:19 am : link
I expect he won't. Unless the other QB needy teams pick up and take a chance on a FA QB. And/or that maybe they like Lock and Jones and willing to wait for them to come to them.
Little
stoneman : 2/5/2019 10:34 am : link
I've seen 2 negative write ups on Little. Early GBN rating has him at 21. Not sure if he is fading, hard to slot him right now.
Let's say the Giants pick Haskins, what do they do with him?
SterlingArcher : 2/5/2019 10:39 am : link
Do they make that huge investment just to have him sit on the bench? IMHO here is what happens, they draft Haskins, the first INT Eli throws fans will be screaming for Haskins, the first INT he throws fans will be screaming he's a bust!
If you checkout the site
mdthedream : 2/5/2019 10:45 am : link
they have the next three picks Defense. DE,LB and a safety.
Haskins has accuracy problems especially on the move
since1925 : 2/5/2019 10:51 am : link
The combine will be huge for him given the small sample size of actual play.
If the Giants have a conviction on Haskins, great
Jay in Toronto : 2/5/2019 11:05 am : link
otherwise I'd be pleased with Ferrell/White and Little or Johnson/Adderley though I'd rather the former or even trading down and bolstering D and OL.

Fans are idiots, thats no reason not to take him

If the Giants take Haskins
81_Great_Dane : 2/5/2019 12:57 pm : link
I expect their plan would be to have him sit for most or all of the season, as Mahomes did. But if the team starts 2-5 or 3-6 they'd probably get him on the field and end the Eli Manning era. Might as well get the new QB, Barkley and OBJ on the field together and see if you really have young triplets.
I am
mdthedream : 2/5/2019 1:05 pm : link
fine with whoever they think the QB of the future is.
I hate mocks
RobCarpenter : 2/5/2019 2:51 pm : link
That make declarative statements about how the Giants "can't afford to pass on quarterbacks again in 2019".

Picking for need over value is what leads to wasted first round picks.

I'm not sure if Haskins should be the pick or not - but I am sure he shouldn't be the pick only b/c the Giants must take a QB at all costs.

I’ve been screaming defense but it’s hard to argue with this. Take a strength and make it dominant.

These mock drafts are such a waste of time. Fun to read, I guess, but certainly not anything worth putting stock in to. They are all just some writers opinion. When Gettleman decides to post his mock draft, well, that one I will pay attention to.
I think the Giants pass on Haskins and I think they should
GeofromNJ : 2/5/2019 3:15 pm : link
They'll take an OL on round one and either draft a better quarterback in 2020 or trade for one.

+1. Look at the Flowers pick, that’s what happens when you force things.
