To compensate, the Giants drafted FB Charles Way on the 6th round that year. Knee injuries ended Way's career.
Toomer's dad was always around training camp and Amani played with Tyrone at Michigan. The elder Mr. Toomer would relay stories from Wheatley's college days. He said Wheatley once came off the field after taking a big hit and told the coaching staff he couldn't go back in because the hit "bent his leg bone." True.
