Per Stein, Memphis wants 2 firsts in any Conley deal, Utah and Detroit in on him.
I wonder if its worth tossing around getting Jrue Holliday. He's a way better defender than Kyrie. He's not crazy expensive at around 25 mill per for the next 3 years. He's been really good the past 2 years. Not as dynamic offensively as Kyrie but still pretty damn good.
I mean..would the idea be to get Jrue, AD, and KD?? That could work...but no way if you are talking Jrue as the sidekick for KD alone...
As the Knicks run out of time to find a trade for center Enes Kanter and his $18.6M expiring deal, discussions on a contract buyout are expected to begin as soon as the deadline passes on Thursday at 3 PM ET, league sources tell ESPN.

Can someone advise why team's buyout players? I'm assuming to get their contracts off the books at a lower cost than they are currently owed, while also granting them the opportunity to go out to the market and sign with a contender, therefore opening a roster spot, but is that it?
Am I missing something here?
If that is it, then why do teams do it? Knicks do not owe Kanter shit if they didn't want to buy him out. What is the ultimate benefit for the team?
Miami acquires the $20.4M and $21.3M contract of Ryan Anderson. The salary in 2019-20 is guaranteed $15.64M with the remaining amount becoming fully protected if he is not waived by July 10. The tax projection in Miami will increase from $9.7M to $11.8M. However, because Kelly Olynyk is likely to miss out on his $1M bonus for playing 1700 minutes this year, the trade projects to be tax neutral.
Suns also get Knicks great Wayne Ellington
Sixers and Celtics interested once he gets bought out
Wizards trade Otto Porter Jr. to the Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari
The Otto contract is one of the worst in the league. I might rather Portis over Otto even if they made the same amount. Otto is fine, but he is just that, fine. They basically have a version of Otto on the roster already in Denzel.
I think Anthony Davis will stay put for now. Lebron will waste this year, he will bitch and complain (even though he chose to go to LA). Walton will get fired.

"If the Knicks cant trade the large contracts of center Enes Kanter and swingman Wes Matthews for an expiring contract and a draft pick before the 3 p.m. deadline, the players are expected to be waived or bought out, according to a source.
They each make a difficult-to-move $18.6 million, but a league source said the Knicks still are still exploring trade options."

I hope that is all it is. He wants to get traded but him really not being committal could be giving teams pause or not their best offer to get him now just in case.

I get that. Believe me I do. But I am not talking solely about them. I am talking about other teams. But I agree that it is very interesting that that he specifically mentions the Knicks when we have had the worst winning percentage in the league since like 2003 or some shit.
announcers and studio people have to be on the Lakers payroll at this point. Almost all of them are pushing the narrative that the Pelicans have to take the offer the Lakers made and how they're not sure the Lakers should even be offering that much.
The Lakers offer is hot garbage. It's just a lot of hot garbage. But hot garbage plus hot garbage still equals hot garbage.
Can we just appreciate the trolling job NO is doing to LA?
fail to even mention that there is zero reason for Pelicans to trade him right now. The Lakers offer is going to be on the table the entire off-season. They're not going to suddenly pull the offer, they know its total trash.
The Pelicans gained a lot of leverage if it is indeed true that Davis is willing to sign long term with more than just the Lakers. If that is indeed true I don't see any way he winds up with the Lakers. Multiple teams can beat their offer in their sleep.
If I'm the Pelicans even if he says he will only sign long term with the Lakers I wouldn't trade him to them and i'd make him play out his contract. Yeah, they'd be losing out on the Lakers offer, but the Lakers offer isn't making them anything but at the very best a fringe playoff team. It would be worth more to a smaller market team like that to stand up to a player like Davis and stop letting star players hold teams hostage that they dont want to resign with. One team has to do it soon, and if the best the Pelicans can do is that steaming pile of shit then they should make an example out of Davis and stand up to these assholes. He can do whatever he wants but teams need to start standing up to these guys and not letting them dictate everything. They wouldn't be giving up much if they turned down the Lakers package and made him play out his contract.

The Mavs have the most exciting teenager since LeBron, a player friendly owner and now are also big game hunters.
I cant remember a summer in which this many desirable spots were legitimate max contract contenders.
This summer is about to blow 2000 and 2010 out of the water.

Take out Hill and this is a no brainer. You have 60-65 million in cap space heading into the summer with-
Davis
Robinson
Smith
Trier
Dotson
You add Durant and still have 20-25 mill in cap space. That team immediately becomes a title contender.
still would be roughly 55 million under
Giving up Knox, Frank (last two #1's) and four 1st round picks is giving up too much IMO.
