Whenever I look at a QB, or any player for that matter, I always see how he compares to his fellow peers while playing against the same defense.
The player that emerges time and time again, "in my opinion", is none other than Jake Fromm. He outperforms his peers, over and over again. These are just "some" of his games, in comparison to his fellow college QB's...
Against Vanderbilt
- Jake Fromm 17/23 73.9% 276 Yards 3 TD 0 Int 217.8 QBR
- Drew Lock 22/33 66.7% 253 Yards 2 TD 2 Int 138.9 QBR
Against South Carolina
- Jake Fromm 15/18 83.3% 194 Yards 1 TD 1 Int 181.1 QBR
- Drew Lock - 17/36 47.2% 204 Yards 0 TD 2 Int 83.7 QBR
- Trevor Lawrence 27/36 75.0% 393 Yards 1 TD 0 Int 175 QBR
Against Alabama
- Jake Fromm 25/39 64.1% 301 Yards 3 TD 0 Int 154.3 QBR
- Drew Lock 13/26 50.0% 142 Yards 1 TD 2 Int 93.2 QBR
- Kyler Murray 19/37 51.4% 308 Yards 2 TD 0 Int 139.1 QBR
- Trevor Lawrence 20/32 62.5% 347 Yards 3 TD 0 Int 184.5 QBR
Against Kentucky
- Jake Fromm 14/20 70.0% 113 Yards 1 TD 0 Int 134 QBR
- Drew Lock 15/27 55.6% 165 Yards 0 TD 0 Int 106.9 QBR
As you can see Jake Fromm consistently outperforms almost every single one of his peers, when he goes up against the same defense.
I could have presented more comparison stats, but I felt that was enough to make my case.
When you watch him, he checks off so many boxes.
Fast mental processing --- check
Mobile --- check
Quick decision making --- check
Good arm strength ---- check
Accurate ---- check
Can play under center ---- check
Can Rollout ---- check
Pocket Passer ---- check
Plays well in Big Games ---- check
If you watch Fromm vs Alabama, probably one of the toughest opponents any QB has to go up against in college. He was under duress and pressure that entire game, yet he dissected them like a surgeon.
Time and time again, he was deadly accurate, even when free rushers were right in his face. This is the QB that we need.
He makes everyone around him better, raises the level of play, and he plays fast. The NFL game, will not be too hard for him, in fact I believe the transition will be rather smooth.
He has "some" similarities to Baker Mayfield. Imagine having Mayfield starting on the Giants for the next 15 years, that's what we will get with Fromm.
Haskins, Lock, Murray, Jones, are all inferior QB prospects, especially from the pocket compared to Fromm, in my opinion.
I would prefer the Giants pass on a QB this year, and go and get Fromm in 2020.
Feel free to discuss, I'm curious your thoughts?
Now, we can not knock him for it either.
But like Haskin at Ohio St.....comparing statistics will get any evaluating tough to do..way too many variables ..as WRs, OL, TEs, running game and even coaching.
Also, What if teams are missing key players on defense

This poster's logic is always flawed. He thinks looking up stats and comparing them is "reseacrh" or "analytics." He has no idea what he is looking at and he is too dense to listen to the chorus of people who point that out to him.
You can't make a game-by-game comparison with so many unpredictable variables (Home-field advantage, weather, Injuries, bad games by other players, exc.).
There's a reason why Sabermetrics is so much more accurate in sports like baseball than football. There's just too much going on each football play to be able to make this comparison.
Fuck that. I like toast and jam.
Copied and pasted stats for each player, and then took a one game sample against Alabama and used that as proof that the Giants "need" Jake Fromm State Farm.
This isn't analysis and all this guy does is post these dopey threads and bail.
OK, so with so many uncontrollable and unavoidable variables, I suppose that we simply cannot compare players with one another...at all...at any position?!
Perfect analysis is not going to come from "random Giants fan," but, as Jim pointed out, some analysis could spark debate. The analysis, regardless of how complete, simply provides a place from which to start the conversation.
...lighten up and add to the conversation?

and why can't we do that on one of the other 800 threads discussing the same topic?

Hmmm, both Brown Hornet and sxdca use "..." over and over and over again and Brown Hornet is now defending sxdca's "analysis" or whatever you'd like to call it. Same poster? Definitely.
If it is like other threads, even the stats could be incorrect.
And for a QB who "outperforms every single one of his peers", he wasn't as impressive as Lawrence vs. Alabama, either on stats or on outcome.
Using comparisons like this, we can make a case that Eric Dungey should be a top rated QB this year.
Sure, that's it... definitely a logical explanation for posting a litany of hit and run threads where he never posts again at all.
I guess he works 24 hours a day.
I like toast and jam
He doesn't sleep because of the exhaustive analytics he's thinking about.

Don't give OP any new thread ideas please
Good conversations about football don't start with inanity. This is not some poster trying to start a discussion. He posts this type of stuff all the time and then screams at people who disagree with him, or he runs away and never posts again.
These are the types of threads this board does not need. You and Brown Hornet may be unfamiliar with his history, which is why people who know him are pointing it out for everyone else.

I'm really just waiting for the next Davis Webb thread, if we're being honest.
Sorry, but I for one miss MiS
Otherwise Eli and not Brady, would be the best of all time
I agree with Fatman, Eric Dungey should be our guy.
I miss MiS as well.
mgorga, not so much.
Hi Paulie!

Defensive players don't play, defensive players get injured and aren't 100%, defensive schemes change based on the offense they're going against, there's garbage duty, defenses give up, defenses play more to stop the run than the pass...
And not every QB will have a stellar game each game he plays. And sometimes, a shitty QB will play well against a good defense.
In 2012, Aaron Rodgers had a stat line of 219 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 56% comp. percentage against the Giants.
Two week prior? Andy Dalton threw 4 TDs against the Giants.
Would anyone say Dalton was/is better than Rodgers?

that almost make me miss the content provided by Matt in Syracuse.
Sorry, but I for one miss MiS
He was a pisser.
When I finally got him to admit he rarely watched college football one season, despite his strong opinions trying to suggest otherwise, I had to book an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon to make sure I didn't have nerve damage in my hands from endlessly debating the clown... ;)
I'd be very surprised if Fromm wound up better than Lawrence.
I think Tua will be better, too - but I'm also an Alabama fan, so I'm biased.
Totally agree. Fields will be awesome for Ohio State. Eason has a howlitzer for an arm.
Add to that, if Fromm is still highly rated come next April, a QB needy team like our Giants may have to trade up to the #1 slot in the draft to land him!
I like toast and Jam ..
Would love to get Fromm but we need to see what happens
this season first . Haskins Foles Lock who the heck
knows ..
