I've been a Giant fan since 1960 when Andy Robestelli, Jim Ketcavage and Y.A. Tittle played. Then Fred Dryer. Met Fred and
Jim Files at my first job Lafayette Radio in Syosset, NY. I have there signed picture along with Spider Lockhart's.
I bleed Giant Blue. This team needs to get back to their defensive days of LT, Carson and Banks. This draft is the perfect draft to
get the defense right. My Plan:
Trade OBJ to the Cards for their #1 pick.--Draft Bosa.
Trade Landon Collins and Vernon to the Raiders for their #4 pick---Draft 1 of the following players if they're still on the board in the following order:Josh Allen, Quinnen Williams,Clelin Ferrell.
At #6--Draft Devin White.
They just upgraded the front 7.
Trade Evan Engram and Gallman for the Lions # 8 pick--Draft Jonah Williams.
With their 2nd RD pick draft WR N'Keal Harry
Trade their 2 4th RD picks and move into the 3rd RD--Draft Brett Rypien QB Boise State.Google his college stats. He's the sleeper of this draft.
With FA the Giants should be in good position to win this year.
They haven't won anything with OBJ,Collins, Engram and Gallman. They can use Perkins or a drafted player to backup SB.
They beef up the DL and OL and LB positions. Defense wins championships..see Patriots holding Rams to 3 points.
They get a good WR to replace OBJ. SB replaces the touches that Engram would have gotten and SB runs better with Ellison and Simonson in the game.
Secondly, there's no way trading OBJ will obtain us the #1 overall pick. The cards will not part ways with that pick with a roster with so many holes that can have a major hole filled with THAT pick.
And, lastly, this isn't Madden. Trades like these do not come so easily as teams want due compensation for what they're giving up!
My son tugged on my arm. "Hey Dad, I have a great idea".
"Lets trade Bob Stanley to the Yankees for Dave Winfield and Don Mattingly".
There are good defensive players in this draft.
Not sure all the fantasy-football trades work in real life.
Awesomeness.
If we are going on nostalgia, why don't we institute the single Wing and the Power Sweep and wear single bars on our facemasks too?
In truth the swaps/trades of high draft picks for established players is an interesting, variable dynamic in the NFL...promise for proven...as a standout of its kind, look at the Cowboys' trade of 2019 #1 for Cooper...
A "good" WR?? I have to break the news to you - when you replace a top player with a "good" player, you get what we've seen the past several years.
but those trades are all realistic, I can see that happening.
Landon Collins (UFA who would need to be tagged to be traded I believe) and OV for the #4 pick. Very realistic.

of the OP and saw that commentary and that's what I replied to.

Engram and Gallman for the #8 pick is realistic?
Cannot trade Collins because he is a free agent. Even if you tag him, he cannot be traded until he signs the tag.
For a huge fan, you know nothing about the business side of football.
And likely senile.
And likely senile.
Question is what was his former alias?
Our defense would be awesome, but it would be game over the first time anybody kicks a field goal.
You forgot to trade away Barkley and Shephard.

I thought he was from Charlotte, not Charlottesville?
In Free agency get 3 players
1-- Get one DL either Grady Jarrett, Frank Clark or Brandon Graham.
2-- Get a FS. Joyner for example. HE shouldn't break the bank.
3-- Get one OL. Depends on how much cap you got after you get above 2. Get the best but one you can afford.
TRADES:
1-- Trade the 2nd rd pick and any later round additional pick to move up either in 1st round or earlier in 2nd rd to get a starter.
2-- Trade 2020 1st rd pick for this year's 1st rd pick. If need be throw in other late rd picks.
3-- Trade 2021 1st rd pick for this year's 1st rd pick. If need be throw in other late rd picks.
----------
Now with the draft you can get FOUR STARTERS at need positions -- and maybe you don't need to trade one of the above and you can use your 2nd rd for a starter.
The 4 picks would be an OLB pass rusher, an ILB, a SS and and an OL such as Risner.
In this scenario if you are lucky you have 7 starters. With 7 starters you have a chance to get into the playoffs.

Then you'll never get you QB>
If it were me, I'd be going the other way and trying to get 2020 picks. Maybe move down in this year's first and pick up an extra first next year (pick best DL or OL available after dropping), move down in the second for an extra second next year etc. Probably package a few late rounds to get another third rounder this year. And then next year pool the extra picks and try to move up for one of the 3-4 top QB's.

say bye to Vernon and don't sign Collins.

I was just responding to the thread of trying to win in 2019 by being "bold" but I said I wouldn't do. Juts playing along with the the thread.

OH! That's next year!!

What have they won with the players I want to trade. OBJ is a head case. They can easily get the #1 pick for him. Kingsbury loves the shotgun offense and pair OBJ and Larry Fitzgerald and he has a great WR Tandem.
Trading Collins and Vernon to the Raiders would help Gruden replace Mack. Both in the front 7 and the secondary.
Gallman and Engram for the #8 pick is fair. 2 young players who the Giants have won nothing with. Why keep Gallman, what for a few carries to give SB a breather. He's worth more to the Giants to get something for him. Perkins or a late RD draft pick can backup SB.
The G-Men had a horrible defense constantly not being able to hold onto a lead. The DL and LB positions need to be upgraded big time. Simonson and Ellison can catch the ball and they are better in the run game. Engram has 1 big play in him a game then he disappears the rest of the game. He's not a good fit in Shurmur's offense.
It's all about 2020 not next year for the Giants. Eli's successor would be better served by having both lines shored up and a good defense behind him. A good defense can help an average offense.
