Interested to see him throw. Wonder if the hand size will be an issue.
HUGE

so excited for this. i am sure he is going to crush the combine much like barkley. really interested to see his measurements. if it is 5'10 195 that would probably seriously help his draft stock considering some are talking 5'8 185
Good decision

somewhat of an enigma due to size. I hope he shines but at least he is not hiding and hoping.
I think when it's all said
Giantophile : 2/7/2019 2:47 pm : link
and done he will go in the top 3, provided he does enough to convince teams he's committed to playing football.
I didn't want to like him but...
Svengali : 2/7/2019 2:51 pm : link
The more highlights I see the more he looks like the best quarterback in the draft. Just my stupid opinion...
Murray comparison
Archer : 2/7/2019 3:03 pm : link
I was watching some old videos of Julian Eldelman when he played QB at Kent State

I was surprised to see how similar he was to Murray
He did not play in an RPO offense but he could run, throw on the run, and had a strong arm.

It is interesting how times have changed and that the NFL now has Opportunities for an undersized QB
Participate means different things...
bw in dc : 2/7/2019 3:03 pm : link
I think at a minimum he has to get measured - height and weight? And then do interviews? If someone knows for sure, please keep me honest on that supposition...

If he runs, throws, jumps, etc, it's going to be great viewing.

NFLN will undoubtedly have a Murray Cam...

He is invited to the combine. no word if he will participate at this time.

I could see Fletcher Cox giving him that belly roll sack
like a steamroller then Cox Will put his hand on his chest
to push himself onto his feet pushing out any air that might
be in his chest cavity ..

At 5'9", my guess is Murray has more than one blind side... ;)
Will he be able to participate in all of the events?

This guy is electric

His speed with Barkley in the back field is scary throwing bombs to OBJ Iím a Haskins guy but if the Giants went with Murray I would be super pumped

I wonder if OBJ is good at receiving

Taiwan Deal RB Can get tough yards

Zander Neuville TE excellent Inline blocker

Both had injuries mar their record

Olive Sagapolu NT extremely athletic for 326 LBs injured last half of senior year
It's almost a month since Murray declared for the draft
Torrag : 2/7/2019 4:45 pm : link
If he has an interest in exploring how high he could potentially be taken it seems to me he had to go to the Combine. The last thing he needs are more doubts as to his commitment to football than already exist in the minds of NFL decision makers. In his case skipping the Combine to focus on a Pro Day and some workoputs didn't make any sense.

Nice, Keelan Doss from UC Davis made the list!

I swear, that guy reminds me of Keenan Allen.

But does he have an agent yet? If not then nothing will surprise me. Players who represwnt themselves make mistakes all the time especially players right out of college. Agents do way more than just negotiate contracts.
I still struggle..

Aren't almost all top picks made to take a chance on greatness?? It's the supposition that Murray can be a HoF'er while the other choices at #6 cannot be. It basically becomes a way for people to justify taking a player with a lot of risks.

Let's say Murray even becomes Vick, is he worth the #6 pick? 6 seasons as a starting QB? 5 playoff games as a starter? Never winning more than 1 playoff game in a season? Only once completing over 60% as a starter?

To me, that's less about threatening greatness and more about getting wildly inconsistent play from the QB - which is basically what people rail on Eli about.
Vick is a career
UConn4523 : 2/8/2019 8:42 am : link
56% passer, why is he the comp? No, if we got Vick's career it wouldn't be worth it but I don't think he's like Vick at all so that isn't my comp.

They have won 2 SB in this millennium. Tied for the 2nd most in the NFL.

it is more about the comment that taking Murray is a chance at greatness while the other picks are "safe".

Murray could be everything as advertised and have an excellent start to a career like wentz and in Game 12, get hammered while running for a first down and be done for the year.

And if you draft him, you are expecting him to make those type of plays.

What gives people confidence that he's a surgical passer who will use mobility to simply avoid the rush and stay in the pocket? People are comparing him to Russell Wilson, but Wilson rarely took off, especially when he went to a pro style offense at Wisconsin.

Murray runs quite a bit, and he's facing a conference either fairly or unfairly known to be lacking defensive strength.

Saying - take a chance on greatness indicates that Murray's ceiling is bounds better than other choices, and I'd disagree. His excitement value is very high - but I'm not sure how that equates to actual football value.
I think people (me included)
UConn4523 : 2/8/2019 9:38 am : link
are ready to take a non-conventional chance. I can only speak for myself but thatís what I mean by it.

Not all prospects are equal for many reasons. Some prospects are more high risk, while others have higher floors. One reason for this is that you have players with varying age entering the draft. Combine that with varying years of starting experience, differing levels of competition, and coaching variability.

re: Vick - if he comes Vick without the off-field issues, then yes he's probably worth the pick. Vick missed the prime of his career for non-football issues.

But why is Vick his comp anyway? Vick was primarily a running QB and completed 56% of his passes in college with a high of 57.7%. Murray completed 67.4%, including 69% this past season on 377 attempts and threw for twice as many TDs in 2018 as Vick did in his 2 seasons starting. Murray seems more like a faster, shorter Mayfield (or Russell Wilson) than Vick.

He could also have an incredible start to his career like Carson Palmer and take a hit in the pocket and be done for the year.

People compare him to Wilson more than Vick because his college passing numbers are far more comparable to guys like Wilson or Mayfield than Vick or Lamar Jackson.
I love Murray, he would be amazing with Odell and Barkley
Paulie Walnuts : 2/8/2019 2:08 pm : link
but if he's smart he'll play baseball
If he is 5'10" or over and 190 lbs, like it has been claimed.
TMS : 2/8/2019 3:53 pm : link
He will be close to Michael Vick's size with a similar skill set and smarter. He goes to the top of the draft IMO. Do not think he even gets to #6.

Unless he knows he won't make it there, or if he thinks he'll be better at football.

Torrag : 2/8/2019 4:58 pm : link
Much smaller percentage of baseball's high draft picks actually make it as long term starters than football. Plus if he's a top 20ish pick in the NFL Draft he'll make a lot more money right away than if he opts for baseball. A lot more.
It's been mentioned that Haskins played on a very strong team
Ira : 2/8/2019 5:23 pm : link
which made his numbers look better. The same is true of Murray. Hollywood Brown may be drafted in the first round. 3 of Oklahoma's o-line and 1 running back may also be drafted.

Four of their OL will likely be drafted (everyone but last year's starting center), one of them likely in the first round if not the top of round two.
Same could be said of Baker Mayfield who led the Sooners
Torrag : 2/9/2019 1:14 am : link
...the year before. The bottomline is they played at an elite level. Odds are very favorable both Haskins and Murray(if he clearly commits to the NFL) are 1st Rounders. The only real question is how high will they go this year. When it's all said and done I expect Haskins will go in the Top 5 and Murray in the Top 20.
