But he’s a player that doesn’t really fit in a big role in the modern game. He could help a contender with occasional offense early in games. Basically unplayable in crunch time.
was all over the place. I'd check in on a Knicks game thread from time to time and see people raving about him, and then a few months later a thread would excoriate him as the worst player ever.

I don’t harbor much ill will towards him. Sure he’s been a cranky pants the last few months since they buried him on the bench, but he always played hard while on the floor.
Glad they cut him loose, but I don’t see the need to burn him at the stake too
the Kanter hate as far as how he acted here. I understand his defense is horrible, so killing him as a player i get. Kanter is 26 years old, so he wanted to play and get a contract. Can't fault him for that. Problem with him I would have is that he could have been a free agent last year, but he opted into his contract for the big money. After that he should have shut his mouth
he was entertaining earlier in the year, both as a character and in that he can definitely score and rebound. But he can't defend *at all* and that meant cutting him loose - and once that became clear, his constant commentary (compared, say, to Lee) became irritating.
Good luck to him if he can't latch on with another NBA team - I don't think Europe is a fun option for him.

I think your last statement is all there is to it. That's all it is for me, anyhow. He was just way too often a whiny bitch. I could have felt bad for him in his situation if he'd have handled it better.
I was one of the people at the start of the season who didn't necessarily think it COULD happen, but because of how hard he'd worked on his game, the kind of shape he got into, I really did want things to somehow work out for him as a role player going forward.
Now? Bye.
who are replacing Kanter and Matthews on the Knicks roster? Â
in exchange for all these expiring contracts - I guess there's a reason we're 10-43, and the league knows it. Oh well. Grind out these last 29 games and hope our fortunes change this summer.
RE: Speaks volumes that we couldn't get anything Â

might make you feel better, stephen a says hr has heard durant does intend to sign wiyh knicks
Kanter is he was traded to NYK during a contract year and upset about not getting playing time during a tank. Much harder to be sympathetic when he voluntarily opts-in to an obvious rebuilding situation because the option is favorable to him and then gets upset when things don't go his way.

Eh, maybe. More likely that there just weren't many matches. We were giving up ezpiring deals but didn't want to take on salary. On top of that we wanted picks. How many teams out tuere have expiring players that have similar salaries as our expiring contracts and had picks to give? It probably wasn't many. As much as I was hoping for some second round picks it just didn't seem like we had many potential matches.
He always played hard, maybe his defense wasn’t the best but it improved. He wanted to be here which is great but I think in today’s NBA a true low post center is not a full time position anymore. Good luck to him. I don’t he ever quit on his team.
Not a right fit for what this team is trying to do but the guy was more into and had more pride being a NY Knick than most players that have passed through this team.
Yes his defense was weak but then that's so for many players today; he isn't alone in that regard. But one thing nobody can't take away from him was his knack for getting a rebound. I wish him well.

eh, at the end of the day he was all about himself. Which is fine. I get it - he's in a contract year. But compare how he handled getting benched vs. how Lee handled it.
I agree he didn't handle himself well at the end. Â
Losing player and sideshow me-first type of personality. Guys like him are terrible for teams. He's a guy straight out of that book ODDBALLS by Bruce Shlain.
he played hard. He seemed to have a lot going on personally, the outgrowths of which I’ve become a lot more forgiving of over the years.
While I think that I probably wouldnt find it too terribly difficult to just keep quiet and ball for $18m/yr, I also understand that I dont really live in the same world as these overgrown-children-multi-millionaires.
Kanter was like an attractive girl with a questionable personality. Â
At first glance everything is amazing, but the more you get to know them the more you realize that there are deep seeded issues that just don't help the relationship.
Matthews was terrible for the 2 games he played for the Knicks. He was a combined 4-19. I know it was a small sample size, but I'm very glad the Knicks are deciding to stick with their plan to play the young guys.
This quote from Ian Begley on espn.com makes me very happy: "The Orlando Magic expressed interest in Frank Ntilikina prior to the trade deadline but the club was told that New York was not trading the second-year guard, per league sources."
cause tatum is the safest asset there. But its really close. Thing is it would be up to Davis at that point. No way that BOS offers all of that without knowing he resigns. If AD would rather NY then the packages are close enough that NO prolly takes the knicks.

i out the best assets on the table because not fair to take tatum off and not knicks 2019 pick...
I have no idea if boston would put tatum on the table...
hope the clippers miss the playoffs, that takes away a pick for the celtics...
say knicks get 2 or 3..which would you rather have:
Tatum, brown, kings pick, memphis pick and another future pick
or
Knox, frank, kjicks pick, 2 future mavs picks and 1 more future first?
I’m not very high on Tatum or Brown. Yeah Tatum will probably be an all star at some point, but the way the media talks about him you’d think he’s a future MVP candidate and I just don’t think he’ll be anywhere close to that.
even though it's much more likely that the Knicks strike out again.
Isn't this kind of a narrative too?
You're basing this on past failures of people who aren't running things. I don't blame you for feeling that way, but the reality is it's not the same scenario as aged Donnie Walsh getting wheeled into a meeting with Lebron in 2010.
Hoping Kanter out of locker room isn't addition by subtraction

If we go back to earlier threads I was never down with THjr
coming back.
and I love his anti erdogan outspokenness
Can't let this go by without saying ... meaning and funniest thing, concurrently, that I've read/heard/seen all day.

Ike Anigbogu!!!
John Jenkins probably will when his 10-day is up
Was it just odd phrasing about the net result, or did he mean something big other than the superstar?

that is exactly what he said but did not elaborate on who or where
"and if knicks get 1st pick all hell will break loose and make july even crazier"

I think Jordan might help the tank. Good big man for a previous era.’but if you can’t git threes you have no place in
Today’s NBA
I'm sure it is going to be butterflies and rainbows if we end up with guys like Durant and Irving, too.
"and if knicks get 1st pick all hell will break loose and make july even crazier"
Where did he say this? Thanks.

That's not meant to be a knock. Every post of yours creates excitement, even though it's much more likely that the Knicks strike out again.

DSJR and Robinson have to be part of the trade as well to fit AD's salary of 27 million (assuming Knicks sign two max FAs).
The real clincher for the Knicks is their pick this year if it's a top 3.
