Which BBI’er made that video?
The_Boss : 2/7/2019 6:38 pm : link
Come on...own up.
A brand new discussion BBI has badly needed.
Mad Mike : 2/7/2019 6:40 pm : link
And one which will surely go well.
Though it
kes722 : 2/7/2019 7:12 pm : link
Was well done video and some of the haters should watch
It was
mrvax : 2/7/2019 7:21 pm : link
very well done and pretty much accurate. It never mentioned that the horrible Oline in 2018, especially the first half got to Eli. He had to check down often and would miss open receivers in his haste to get the ball out.

Worth the watch, IMO.
I agree.
rasbutant : 2/7/2019 7:22 pm : link
And I think a lot of others do as well. The haters just talk louder and more often. Which in turn makes those on the fence or not in the know believe the narrative.
Agreed that Eli is not done.
Red Dog : 2/7/2019 7:37 pm : link
The sub-standard OL and defense are the real problems, thanks to Mara employing Reese and Ross long after both had demonstrated that they should be terminated.
That video wasn't very substantive.
Zeke's Alibi : 2/7/2019 8:26 pm : link
His arm strength really hasn't decline much, but that isn't the problem. He is literally moving around in quicksand back there with his feet.

He also ended the video very strangely. Like he makes this argument that Eli still has it and can get it done but ends with a pass in the Saints game that was pretty much pure luck of a db totally misplaying a ball. It was a hail mary pass on 4th down. That isn't really how you want to cap a video saying Eli still has it.
He is literally moving around in quicksand back there

Well, that explains a lot. Literally.
I can't believe they finished that
Doomster : 2/7/2019 9:13 pm : link
video with that td throw against the Saints......how that was not intercepted was a miracle.....almost saintly....

Yes, Eli is a bit of a gunslinger, and he will have int's because of this....

But there are int's and incompletions that were not talked about in the video....Stupid throws that a veteran qb should not have thrown......but also throws where he is not on the same page as his receiver.....I am sure someone could make a video of those......

But I will agree.....there are many talking heads out there that just look at seasonal stats, and not what may or may not have affected them.....

In 2017, no OL, no running game, no receivers......but that didn't apparently matter, it had to be Eli.....

In 2018, the defense was worse.....the OL sucked in the first half of the season, but had some reasonable stability in the second half....the running game would have been non existent again, if not for some guy named Barkley, who had the ability to make something out of nothing, and turn what would have been 5-10 yard gains, into first downs and td's....

Eli's stats in the first half were poor, as was the OL....when it improved in the second half, so did his td totals, despite the fact that he did not have OBj for the final 4 games.....

So the question is, does Eli have anything left? He is another year older, so physically the chances of him getting better in that department are slim......but I too have wondered, what would he do with a decent OL in front of him....OBj did not have one of his better years....an OL, SB, and a healthy OBj, who knows?

If Eli is in the plans for 2019, then put an OL in front of him, and then see what he has left....the catch-22 to this is, if Eli and the team are successful, what happens in 2020?

I always imagined...

Hey Gramps you might want to dust off your dictionary. If you are going to be a dick you better check to make sure you are at least right. Nothing worse than an old fool.
There are a lot of QB's in todays NFL that
xman : 2/7/2019 10:40 pm : link
one would want before settling on todays version of Eli Manning. That wasn't so years ago.

There are as many holes in Eli's game as there are on the Giant team. So the talent you need to surround Eli with in order for him to succeed is unrealistic. Most QB's would do well if everything was stellar
Wow
BBelle21 : 2/7/2019 10:44 pm : link
That was an eloquent and rational presentation. Thank you to whoever that was for taking the time to make that video. The false narrative on Eli is hard to stomach

You need to go look it up as well. It's been used this way for a long time and it is considered a proper usage of the word now. Funny how language is living like that.

Just because many people misuse a word does not change it's definition, and it is certainly not cause for your response to since25.

Thanks for posting that. Now read the second definition of the one you posted from Merriam Webster. This started with some wiseass thinking he was clever when he didn't like the fact I said Eli was slow. How is it "arrogant" to point out his mistake. I'd argue he was being arrogant because he was trying to make fun of my "misuse" of the word. Now I got idiots literally posting the definition the way I used it. Unfuckingbelievable. I demand more of my taxes go to elementary schools.

I can even live with Halapio and Brown...replace Wheeler....and maybe, just maybe, we finally have the OL we need for Eli.... Barkley will shine even more.

Go heavy defense in draft.
Saquan Barkley and change of scheme made a huge difference....

Yep, we can't have Wheeler start another year. I'm ok with Brown if they don't overpay. Need a center, I'd draft one. Halapio hasn't really showed us anything.

antdog24 : 2/8/2019 9:33 am : link
I watched Eli stare down his receiver after the snap all game. Now does he have a case of David Carr Syndrome? Is the trust in his line so bad that he doesn't want to take the time to look off his receivers? I don't know... but that's the biggest thing I noticed this season, he's not seeing the field the same way, it appears he has slowed down in that aspect.

Halapio has shown the coaches what they want to see. They didn't even let Jones compete last year and he had proven to be better than Richburg for us. I trust the coaches on this one.

He had 2TD's and over 300 yards. Maybe film study shows teh Cowboys don't make many post-snap adjustments or something along those lines.

And that's avoiding the whole topic of an uneducated guy watching the game and making the assumption that Eli stares down his receivers "all game".

The idea..
FatMan in Charlotte : 2/8/2019 10:16 am : link
that any QB locks into a target all game long at anything above the HS level is an asinine comment.

You tell me you are watching the game and can see where the QB is staring, and this is what you are focusing on when watching the game? Even scouts have to go back and watch film to figure out if QB's made good decisions or "stared down" receivers.

Unless I'm specifically focused on looking for something, I can't see those types of things in real time, nor would I be able to spend an entire game focusing on it.

Of course I call bullshit. Then seeing the source, I call double bullshit.

I love the fact posters say "x" person is wide open... when they dont take into consideration where the QB is looking, under and over the top coverages, and how the defense reacts once the ball was thrown.

I guaranteed Eli missed a few WRs that game. All QBs do. But all game long? Lol.... ok.
