Loved him, even in a smaller role,

One of the pioneers of the kitchen sink drama. Also loved him in Big Fish.
definitely one of the greats -

when I was 11 years old I wanted to be him in "Tom Jones." It was the raciest thing I could imagine at that age (and in that era).

Just wanted to say I really love that movie. Especially the end scene. Gets me every time.

I remember him when I was a kid and watched Annie and he was Daddy Warbucks.

"Did I just do a commercial?!"

Agreed, he was brilliant in "Tom Jones". One of my favorites. Also, he was good in "Wolfen", an under-rated flick, IMO.

Interesting thing about Finney, for me anyway

His face was eminently familiar, but I could never remember his name. Now that I know it, the guy ups and dies.
Barry Lyndon as a young man. Beautifully shot....

Kubrick film was a great Finney performance. As an older man, he was incredible in The Dresser. RIP to a great actor.
Awww, a great one

Loved him in a bunch of things -- thought he was a great Poirot (second only to Peter Ustinov) in Murder on the Orient Express

My favorite film of his though was an 80's sci-fi film called "Looker" . -- it was one of the first HBO films I remember as a little kid. Really a fun movie.
Good actor

Shoot the moon good flick .

roles would be a very long list. Tons of supporting actor roles at the highest level. The reluctant, but ultimately supportive, plaintiff's counsel in Erin Brockovitch is another example.
