NFT: 25th Anniversary of the NY Rangers Stanley Cup Team

So I didn't feel the historical weight, but it must have felt extremely good to see them wreck the Islanders so hard in that first playoff series. I imagine it would the equivalent of the Giants sweeping the Eagles next year and outscoring them by 40 points.

but I'm sure as fuck sick of "celebrating 1994" .... God forbid Dolan give us something else to celebrate this century.

If anything, this is a reminder of how few notable accomplishments the Rangers franchise has had in the last quarter century.

I missed the parade because of the goddamn freshman year Earth Science regents exam. I'm turning 40 in June, enough with 1994 already.

a great time and stopped the 54 years of frustration and chants of 1940. But now we're probably going to start hearing chants of 1994. 25 years is a long time without a championship and there doesn't appear to be one in the near future.

I always thought the two best teams in hockey that year was the Devils and Rangers. Then they had an epic Eastern Conference Finals that year, where you just knew the winner of that series would win the Stanley Cup.

Devils go up 3-2 in the series and than Mark Messier racked up a hat-trick in game 6. Game 7 was a thriller on both sides. Devils tie it with seconds in regulation and it goes to double overtime Matteau seals the deal.

Even though we lost, that was an amazing series from both teams and man how time flies with how it's now the 25th Anniversary of that Cup win for the Rangers.

"Now I can Die in Peace" truer words were never spoken. As a Rangers fans since 1970, this was even bigger than the Giants winning the '86 super bowl.

That win culminated a 54 year drought. The way things are going, I don't expect to seen another Stanley Cup before I die.

This is the way I feel. At least I got to see one Rangers team win the cup. I have been following them since the Goyette / Nevin / Marshall line days. I believe that is late 60’s / early 70’s.

it was great...being I have been following since the original 6....started watching in 1959...rangers always at the bottom...rangers will win cup again in 2024

I knew at the time how special that Cup was, ending the 54-year drought. My dad let me stay up past my bedtime on school nights to watch those games. But yeah, this ceremony just reminds me what a disaster the last 25 years have been for Rangers hockey. I really wonder if I'll see another one in my lifetime.

We should be celebrating a 5 year anniversary this year instead. :(

Wore #2 on my HS hockey team because of him. Killed me when he got traded to Toronto. Got to meet his brother when he played for Army. Still can't believe it's been 25 years, nor can I believe the franchise hasn't won another one since.

1994 and when his mom died 15 years later.

Boy, are you clueless. That was as exciting as it gets. The only greater excitement in my lifetime was the 1980 Gold-medal-winning Olympic Hockey team.

I jinxed it talking about 17 straight. I think it was wearing white at home - even though it was a nice tribute to 1994

Regardless we needed the 0 points in this and closer to trading productive players away. I want a top 5 pick damnit. Only way we are going to stop celebratinf 1994 already (can't wait for the 30th reunion! Woohoo!)

Just sad that we got shut out by a team we've absolutely been curbstomping for the longest time now after all of that with all of those guys in the building.

Fans paid a lot of money for this game, but that's the risk you take with a team that sucks this much, I suppose.

Tikkanen looked so old. He was one of my favorite players on that team even though he was only here that year.

I cannot believe it has been 25 years already....having said that I told myself I wouldn't get excited about the Canes, but at this point it is hard not to.

in the Eastern conference?? And CBJ and PITT both have games on them too. You did luck into the #2 pick though - even though finished ahead of the Rangers last year.

Rangers are now 11th worst in the league in points... with the fewest ROW in the entire NHL.
