By NCAA. How say the masses on this one?
I think he's going to light it up at Ohio State

Based on what?

Someone called me a bad word?
Everyone knew it was happening
dep026 : 2/8/2019 4:48 pm : link
But OSU seems immune from things going against them.

Such a horrible place to be that his sister committed there for another sport...
Like I said to someone on twitter
tyrik13 : 2/8/2019 4:52 pm : link
His sister is her own person lol. He felt threatened by the word, obviously the NCAA felt the same way and granted it
Fields
Mark in ATL : 2/8/2019 5:55 pm : link
Well, it will be up to Fields now to prove that he is capable of leading a major college program.
I read somewhere
Pete in MD : 2/8/2019 5:58 pm : link
that the dude in the stands was yelling a lot of stuff at multiple members of the team and coaching staff but Fields' lawyers could point to a documented incident and it's not like there's anyone trying to make a case against hardships.

It's a good thing he's going to Ohio, where everyone lives in racial harmony.

I get that but as a parent, wouldn’t you think your daughter may face similar and possibly worse offenses now that your son left? If he stayed and made a comment about it, it’s one thing.
I don't think anyone is against Fields' right to transfer to another
shockeyisthebest8056 : 2/8/2019 6:59 pm : link
program. The problem is why should he be exempt from the rules of transferring? This was "traumatic" enough to cause him to transfer, but not so much so that he had to immediately leave the team or university.

If Fields gets an exemption, how can they stand in the way of Tate Martell? If Martell gets an exemption, then it becomes a free for all.

He looked like shit in his limited time at UGA.
UGA’s play calling
Mark in ATL : 2/8/2019 8:52 pm : link
It was obvious that when Fields was in the game, that UGA was going to call a running play and the fake punt against Alabama was disastrous. In the end, probably everyone will be better off that he transferred though if Fromm gets hurt in the Fall, UGA could be in deep trouble:
Should have stayed
Bill in TN : 2/8/2019 9:04 pm : link
with Penn St. Would be starting this year in a RPO offense that benefits his abilities. But, went with the home state university and got shafted. Now he will save OSU . . . right.

FWIW part of his claim had to do with being a baseball player with potential draftable talent. The guy allegedly making the racial comments was a baseball player, and Fields wouldn’t feel comfortable ever possibly playing baseball at UGA. Therefore, staying at Georgia would all but close that possible career path for him should football not work out. Don’t necessarily agree with it, but that was the argument.

And I believe Martell, and others when their coach leaves, should get a waiver.

There's no way
MookGiants : 2/8/2019 9:15 pm : link
that anyone believes what one person called him, a person that was immediately dismissed from the school, is the reason he transferred, is there?

I mean I know people are really dumb, but no one can be that dumb.

He transferred because Fromm was ahead of him. Anyone with even the slightest of clue knows that.

I dont condone whatsoever using the word that he was called, but if thats grounds for transferring to wherever you want without sitting out, then they might as well get rid of the transfer rule. Let it be free agency every off-season.

If Fromm wasnt in front of him, Fields would be staying at Georgia. Everyone knows that.

The guy who made those comments was dismissed from school, wasnt he? So that argument about baseball holds no water.
Fields at Ohio State
Mark in ATL : 2/8/2019 9:39 pm : link
Everyone knew the ‘incident’ was going to be used by Fields and his attorney for his get out of jail for free card. Fields also has made comments to the Ohio press that he has felt more welcome during his time at Ohio State than at Georgia which has ruffled some feathers here.
Why have
Pete in MD : 2/8/2019 11:14 pm : link
these rules at all if they are so easy to get around? Just let everyone transfer once without sitting out with no special loopholes like grad transfers.
This sets a precedent..
FatMan in Charlotte : 2/8/2019 11:17 pm : link
that should allow anyone to claim they are feeling threatened to leave a school without punishment.

Seems fairly straightforward - claim somebody called you a slur and get a free transfer.

This is today's reality.
It wasn’t a claim
10thAve : 2/8/2019 11:24 pm : link
It actually happened. To the point where Sasser - a legit baseball prospect - was kicked off the Georgia baseball team.

I don’t necessarily agree that this allows Fields to transfer scot-free and be allowed to play right away, but I think downplaying what happened is not the route to play either.
I’m shocked

Shocked. To find out that gambling is going on at this establishment.
I thought Tate Martell would have been more entertaining

NCAA continues to be a joke. I am sure he would have been declared immediately eligible if he wanted to transfer to SMU or USF. Does the NCAA spring for Emmert's kneepads and mouthwash when he deals with the Big 10 and SEC or does he have buy his own?

It wasn’t a claim, it actually happened in front of thousands of people and the individual who did it was dismissed from the school
