Zach Allen - Boston College
Rashan Gary - Michigan
Ed Oliver - Houston
Jonathan Ledbetter - Georgia
Dre'Mont Jones - Ohio State
Christian Wilkins - Clemson
Raanan said he was convinced Tomlinson was miscast as a 1 technique and that he’s likely to be moved outside where he’s a better fit. So if that’s the case, we’d either be looking in the draft or FA to fill his former role, instead.
Gary has as much upside as any defender in this class Â
Production was good but not great at Michigan but imo his best ball is in his future. Rare athletic gifts for his size and he possesses solid character. If we don't go QB with our first pick I'd be all over him if he was still available at #6.
I'm with Sy in that I like Oliver, Gary, and Wilkins, and hope one of them becomes a Giant. I think Wilkins is being overlooked by many, he is going to be a great pro for many years.
When draft picks bust, it's said often by personnel people that they missed on the "person". You can't miss on Wilkins. Great character, talented player, going to be a pro's pro.
...there is no chance the Giants draft him in their market with his history. They might as well paint a target on the franchise logo and on the kids jersey to boot.

Not Simmons? What about Clemson's Bryant in a latter round?
Love Oliver and/or Wilkins myself. Looks to me like Oliver is one of those prospects who become devalued by over exposure, repeated double teams, and opponents' focus on him.
All these guys were targeted for double teams and attention Â
I expect we will try and bring back Kerry Wynn and Josh Mauro as cheaper deals to compete for playing time.
I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to bring back Mario Edwards as well if possible. I think he has upside in Bettcher's system.
The guy I really like in the draft as a 5-tech DE is Zach Allen in round 2. I think he would be a really good fit.
I wouldn't be surprised if we also looked at depth options on day 3 in the draft as well, perhaps someone like Daniel Wise, Khalen Saunders or Daylon Mack.
I would look at Tomlinson, Hill and Allen as the likely starters with McIntosh, Edwards, Wynn, Mauro and Wise/Saunders/Mack competing for spots and playing time.
The real key is to get quality depth and rotation. I wouldn't be shocked if we kept 7 DL.

Good post. With the plethora of 4th, 5th and 6th round picks DG has, no doubt he'll be looking to bolster quality depth on the DL as well as the OL. Saunders got a ton of positive reports at the Senior Bowl week.
Depends on down and distance also how the draft falls Â
trade down and pick up extra draft capital for next year. Draft the best available defender or OT in the first and then set yourself up to move up to get the QB you desire next year. Now, this does not seem realistic given DG's history as a GM, but it's what I would do.
There is no doubt that Christian would provide the on field leadership and locker room presence the Shurmer and DG seem to be looking for. We could use any extra picks we gain for the OL.
He may not have the high ceiling of others but there is no denying his performance and athleticism against top opponents; his "floor" is pretty solid.
And who would not love to see Wilkens line up in the backfield as a FB in goal line sets and occasionally run in for the score; or take a swing pass (a la that other Clemson grad William "Refrigerator" Perry)?
From a pass pressure standpoint, Tomlinson is much too slow Â
For guys saying we should trade down: which players are guys trading up for? After the first 3/4 picks, the talent in this draft seemingly levels off no?
That scenario should definitely be on the table unless they love someone who has fallen. If we don't get our QB this year, we need to make sure we have ammo without mortgaging the future (too much).
I hope we get a chance at fleecing a team. I think Haskins will turn out to be a very "average" QB in this league. It is just a feeling, of course, but the feeling of getting say an upper #1, #2 this year and #2 and #3 next year makes me feel good given all of our holes.
I don't know. It is early. Just spitting up here. LOL
we would get the most takers at 6 from a QB needy team. Well WE are a QB needy team.
+1. I'm having a hard time envisioning a scenario where we will be able to trade down. On the off chance that Haskins falls we probably run to the podium with that card. Maybe if the Broncos love Lock? Even then, there's a good chance that we would take Lock. Basically, there isn't a player that we wouldn't take at 6 that would incentivize another team to move up into our slot. A couple of guys really need to blow up the combine, it needs to get more top heavy because right now it looks like theres 3 blue chippers and maybe 1 QB at the top of the draft. We pick 6.

For now; that's exactly why I raised the question. I suggest DG has an upgrade in mind.

Q Williams, Tomlison, Hill
Or
4th end big, Tomlinson, Hill
Long down and distance could be:
Wynn (as olb) Oliver, Hill, Zach Allen
Or, if Q will had been drafted something similar to above but with a less notable rush DT instead of Oliver (does Gary drop?)
Or, alternatively
Josh Allen(olb), Hill, Tomlinson, Wynn(olb) as a 2 4 5 assuming you draft actual pass defending Ilbs in 2 and 4
At 6 you get DT. Williams or Oliver or whomever
2nd you get the Zach Allen or i
OLB a great pass defending ILB.
That's a very different team for 2019
With playmakers at those spots

Played nose, or inside at Bama for a reason.

followed by a third pass player who can rush the QB from the outside or inside.
Team doesn't need 17 run stopping 3-4 boring Defensive ends.
