Still some gas in the tank @ almost 48......playing lights out as the sun is setting, will have to play a few holes in the coldness of early morning to win his 5th at pebble.....mid round featured a biblical like hail storm, great day up north’s!
to the day with Phil sprinting to each tee box as the sun went down. The conversation between the officials, Casey and Phil as to whether or not to continue was also interesting.
PIA, but don't blame him. He made 1 putt in last 6 holes. Hey he is trying to win. Phil was hot, he wasn't. If he misses the putt at 16(not 15) he is 4 back with two to go. Also he and his amateur partner were leading by 1. So he is actually playing for 2.
BTW, I have never seen a 13 handicap make the shots Colleran was making yesterday (and apparently all week). Those were crappy conditions and he was inside the pros on approach shots a few holes they showed.
Colleran was incredible. couldn't believe the shots he was making Â
The reason I asked about not finishing 16 was because my dad texted me and said that was BS....but I chalk that up to being a grump.
My index runs 10.6 to 13.1, so I'm about what he purports to be. Yes I can shoot high 70s, but to put 4 rounds together at that pace in those conditions in competition is virtually impossible for that handicap. Now if he is a good putter, with Casey and Colleran's caddie reading the putts, he may be saving around 3 or 4 shots per round making putts he normally would not make.
I also don't know what yardage they are playing - my guess 6000 to 6200 for the amateurs.
Just color me skeptical.
There's no one in the game more full of himself than Phil. Phil being a man of the people is one of the biggest shams in professional sports. He'll do anything for a buck.
The young guys are cocky as hell and the old guard are really bad at morals. Patrick Reed doesn't speak to his family and is a really difficult dude to get along with.
There's really only about 3 current "top" golfers who get a lot of praise for their character - Jordan Spieth, Ricky Fowler and Bubba Watson.
And Watson doesn't have many friends across the pond, as he pissed off a lot of people on the European tour a few years back complaining about course conditions, security and how well the tournaments are organized.
Not many of these guys are going to come off great. Most have been used to being catered to by people their entire lives and have been immersed in the country club set from the time they had a club in their hands.
And Fowler is basically Phil's little brother.... Â

Regarding Reed:
One of the members at the country club where I work knows Reed and his brother in law caddy personally. The perception is he’s a cock. And I believe it. But according to the member, he’s really a great guy if you’re close to him. His brother owns a house off one of the holes at the course where they hold the Travelers every year in CT. Reed and his bro in law show up once a tourney at night for a BBQ dinner. So I guess there is another side of Reed.

There's a reason his nickname is FIGJAM
Jlukes....So you hate Phil because he has a big ego? But love Tiger with all of his issues?
Now if you told me you hated him because the bet he won on the Ravens-Giants super bowl I could get behind you.
I'm finally feeling a bit better. Hopping I can get out on the course soon. Let's tee it up soon.

Oh Tiger was a Douche too, but at least he and the media didn't make him out to by some sort of loveable man of the people.
So great to hear you are feeling better - would love to tee it up with you this spring

Good for him that he got it done. Only one major he has never won, which is the US Open and it is being played on the same course he just crushed. That would be awesome to see him do it.
Phil is one of the most entertainng athletes on the planet Â
He goes from elite to hot mess fast enough to give you whiplash. Then he hits it from out of bounds to two feet. Then he puts five iron in a tree. It's never dull. No shot is too difficult for him and no shot is too easy.
Besides everybody has good and bad to their personality. Was Beethovan a good guy? Derek Jeter used to give gift baskets to his one night stands. Good or bad? Classy or cheesy? Phil acts nice enough. On the course, he is must see TV.
Phil had 3 birdie putts early that he just missed at 5, 6 and 7. Since then putting like a mad man. His short irons best I have seen in a few years.
Great start to the year for Phil. Hope he can get that one last major.
Two holes to finish in the morning.
Everyone else finished.

And the FIGJAM is hysterical. Who cares if he things that? Hes one of the 10 greatest golfers ever. He deserves to think that.
