The lovefest for him is laughable to me. He then blames the Pelicans and accuses them of bad negotiations in the media.
Then he tells his young players they have to grow up because all deals are in the mdia. Umm no magic they are not all in the media..
Then Ben Simmons says he wants to work with Magic and instead of saying we probably will not be able to make it happen. He puts the onus on the sixers to say no and risk alienating their star by not allowing it.
Dude shut up you have made horrible moves and lucked into lebron
Well in fairness it's still LA and they still have Lebron. The Lakers have always been an appealing destination whether we like it or not. I'm kind of surprised Atlanta hasn't become more of a player in the FA game. It's a very hot/popular city and had a huge hip hop culture which obviously would appeal to many of the younger players.

The Hawks don't have the history that the Lakers do. And few care about the Hawks in The ATL.
They would have to up the cap space but get rid of these ridiculous rules regarding contracts/trades.
I hope when Lebron retires, he has nothing to do with the NBA.
IMO if players do not come to the Lakers it is much more about not wanting be on a team with LBJ because of some of his GM / behind the scenes LBJ than anything.
He's now always consistently putting this weird pressure on the teams he plays for to get better faster than might be reasonable forcing them to make bad moves or just destroying the confidence of his teammates.
Not even just young players or mediocre players. Love. Bosh got worse each year he played with him. Kyrie straight up said he had enough.
I think signs are mounting that LBJ while maybe the GOAT doesn't seem to be the best person to be on a team with.
Maybe it's because we are producing more snowflakes. I can't see Jordan having been a more supportive teammate but it's definitely fascinating to watch.
no one wants to deal withth pelinka, new orleans flat out would not speak to him because the way hr handled things as an agent
Probably because he's an obnoxious clown and no one really likes him.

you know that ain't happening.
Quote:
Have him and Pelinka made any good moves outside being gifted Lebron? And Lebron was coming to the Lakers regardless of who was in charge. Also, Paul George, Leonard and Davis have now all be available and the Lakers haven’t even come close on any of them. Part of that has to fall on Lakers management.

Pelinka does seem like a scum bag.

Over the last 30 years, only six rookies have averaged at least two blocks per game and shot over 50% from the field:
David Robinson, Alonzo Mourning, Shaq, Chris Webber, Pau Gasol and Tim Duncan.
Mitchell Robinson is currently averaging two blocks per game and shooting 69.7%
Him
Giannis
Leonard should be the top 3 because they are dominant on both ends...
Unlike the new love of the league, who ISO's every trip down and plays zero defense. But hey, he shoots it a lot!

He also leads the league in blocks per 48 min. By almost a full block too. He needs to work on his conditioning and play a little more under control to avoid foul trouble.

He looks like a steal, but that "stat" is a little ridiculous. Robinson averages 3.6 shots/game. Out of the other 6 players, Webber had the fewest attempts/game with >13.5.
They consistenly pick at the top of the draft and have had some serious misses/ busts. Len/ Bender/ Chriss/ Jackson
Wade Baldwin IV?
Henry Ellenson?
Ike Anigbogu?
About a week ago he ripped the Mavs for playing Harrison Barnes through the middle of a trade...except he didn't mention the Mavs told Barnes and his agent talks with the Kings and Hornets were ongoing. Barnes chose to play. Said people need to understand its a business from both ends. And yet, this dude literally plays NBA2k gm and has guys traded all the time. Anyone remember when the Cavs wanted to let Tristan Thompson walk? Not on Bron's watch! He made them pay him. How'd that work out?
He showed up in Miami and wanted Spoesltra fired. Riley said no way. Not a surprise he left Miami, he didn't like where he was on the totem pole.
David Blatt has won in every spot he's been in. Lebron never gave him a chance.
Reports come out that Lebron's camp wants the Lakers to fire Walton. People defend Lebron and say they weren't his words directly. Where was his quote defending his coach to the media? He was silent.
He deserves everything that comes his way.
Magic is too egotistical to succeed as a FO guy. Loves hearing himself speak way too much. Their roster is just a horrible mix of veterans and young guys, and at this point i think its safe to say there is no good mix of the two.
I don't think anyone is coming either. What Magic failed to realize is these star players care A LOT about their public image. Why play for a GM who feels entitled to spout off to the media about current players?
Now i'm reading Ingram and Kuzma aren't too fond of Lebron and i don't blame them. I like Kuzma. If i were him, i'd ask out of that toxic organization.
My hot take? I'd trade Lebron and continue with the youth movement.

I went to one Hawks game in Atlanta during the Millsap, Horford, etc years and it was completely empty in the arena. Surprising given that they were a perennial playoff team. Small sample size I know but I went to a falcons game the next day which was jam packed. I wonder if it's just not a popular sport in Atlanta the same way football and baseball is.

The Pelicans are being held to a standard that the NBA has not held other teams to this season. A very healthy Carmelo Anthony was essentially exiled by the Rockets in November. Memphis' Chandler Parsons and Cleveland's JR Smith, too

So Giants/Knicks fans, which of these two would you prefer:
The Duke Option:
Giants - Daniel Jones
Knicks - Zion Williamson/RJ Barrett
OR
The Georgia Option:
Giants - Jake Fromm
Knicks - Anthony Edwards
Man, the 76ers are good. They're going to be a tough out. Simmons didn't have a good game, but Embiid was a monster, Harris was solid, & Redick continues to be on fire.
And they passed on Luka Doncic for Trae Young. Yuck. Doncic could've revitalized that franchise.

Is the consensus still that they're absolutely going to resign Butler? With Simmons up for his rookie max soon, Embiid's deal, + Harris and Butler on max contracts, that would be one massive payroll. He seems less necessary with the Harris addition who I think is a better fit next to JE and BS

The plan is to sign everyone, at least those were the reports
Beningo isn’t the sharpest sports fan around. I say that as a fan of his but he comes off as pretty immature or simple minded. FWIW I know 2 people who have interacted with Beningo on numerous occasions who swear up and down that he’s a big time asshole in the real world. I know... cool story.

Apparently the plan is to keep everyone around, but we'll see. Harris is a good insurance policy if Butler bolts, which I think is more realistic than Harris leaving.

Yawn. We see this every year with him and Westbrook. Yawn... carrying his team.... yawn... shoot a ton.... yawnnn..... flop for fouls..... yawn..... play no defense.... yawn....
Why are the thunder much better this year? Cause George has taken over as their best player. He’s more of a MVP than harden is. Two way players get no love. Just stat compilers.
How do the stat compilers do when playoffs come around? Oh yeah, they usually perform well below than their regular seasons.
All 4 of my candidates are two way players with better records. Shooting 44/37% is quite an accomplishment!!!
It could easily be argued that Harden doesn’t deserve first team all-NBA. But the hysteria because of the amount of shots, I mean points he put up will cause an outrage.
Harden's Rockets likely would've beat the dynasty Warriors last year if not for an injury to their second best player.
Link - ( New Window )
Agreed.
But count me in as finding the Rucker Park Rockets impossible to watch.
Finishing 2nd spreads it out more to 20 percent chance at each position...
You’re top 3 odds don’t increase.
Don’t overthink it.
That’s bad math.

I actually agree with this. And I think the nba needs to do away with the positions for all nba. Just pick the top 5 guys.
And I know it’s a separate issue, but I can’t stand watching Harden play. He’s not even dishing or initiating the offense so much- just jacking up shots.
Honestly I kind of think the best thing that could happen to the team might be landing Zion and whiffing on the free agents.
The most likely scenario is probably picking 4 or 5 and signing Kemba Walker in free agency,

Harden isn't merely compiling stats though. Well, unless you count "a win that never should have fucking happened" as a stat.

Dream scenario for me would be Zion, KD and Kawhi. Just Zion would be fine. None of the above is a distinct possibility if not the most likely outcome.

If the Knicks do win the lottery, I highly doubt AD would cost all that much more than that
Harden isn't merely compiling stats though. Well, unless you count "a win that never should have fucking happened" as a stat.
It’s exactly what he is doing. It what Westbrook has done the last few years too. It’s what Lebron does in the playoffs. Making yourself the one who touches the ball 85% of the time means you are going to compile stats. Points, assists, shots, free throws. He compiled stats.... regardless if he plays well or not.
Oh no the league will hit Magic with his fourth 500k fine for tampering. If it were any other franchise they would have lost a 1st round pick plus a fine.
I did LOL yesterday when LBJ was pretty much daring him to shoot. He wasn't even guarding him. Simmons took a 3 & it went in & out. But the funniest thing was that you could actually hear the crowd gasp when he put it up, like the entire arena was thinking, 'WTF?'
And what have I said that’s wrong about him? He’s a dominant ISO ball player who rarely plays defense. He went six straight games where not one of his baskets was assisted. You know how insane that is?
I figured you of all posters would appreciate ball movement and defense since that’s why your team is dominating the sport.
i struggle to understand the issue with inbounding a basketball at the end of games.
The way he's carried this team with Paul/Gordon/Capela injured for stretches has been amazing. It's not like he was putting up empty stats either, as the Rockets offense was Top 2 with the Warriors in the league during this stretch despite having a 25 win squad outside of Harden during this time. Empty stat compilers don't lead their team to success like that.
His defense is also much improved from a while ago. The memes about his D were deserved in 2016, but he's so much better now to the point that opposing teams usually attack Gordon on switches instead of Harden. He's the best post defender on the team and making a lot more of an effort overall on that end.
Awesome player. Giannis vs. Harden is a toss up for MVP right now imo, with George playing ridiculous of late to get in the mix.
Quote:
So I concede that you will never be rational about him.

I think Harden's game is uninteresting and unentertaining as hell, but that doesn't mean I have to believe untrue things about him.
Again... 6 games at least without a teammate getting an assist on his shot. Ridiculous ball hog.
Hope he chokes a big one in the playoffs...... again.
He’s a ball-hog but that’s because it’s clearly the best way for the offense to function. And it’s led him to a historic offensive season. That’s what’s different from this and Westbrook’s monster volume season where OKC had a middling offense.
His D is much better than it was 3 years ago. He’s still mediocre at defending his man on the perimeter but he’s much more active and a tank down low. He’s a better defender than guys like Curry/Lillard/Kyrie at this point.

Hope he chokes a big one in the playoffs...... again.
Are baskets where a teammate assists worth more than unassisted ones?
You do realize Klay guards the good PGs the Warriors play right?
Curry is an ok defender but his size kills him on switches. I’d say Curry has been better than Harden over the years on D but that gap has closed. Kyrie and Lillard are awful defenders, Kyrie has improved but I’d still take Harden easy over both of them especially Lillard.
And offensively he’s one of the top 4 players in the league along with Curry/Durant/LeBron. He’s a beast and I’d give him MVP right now.
