Word seems to be leaking out of Park Ave that because of the NFL 100 Years Celebration or whatever, that they are going with the packers - bears to open on Thursday, thus moving the patriots to Sunday. By giving them the Giants and Eli...the NFL will get all the eyeballs they desire.

From a national media exposure, the Giants are a heavy weight. There is a reason that NYG still has a lot of primetime exposure despite being a piss poor franchise the last half decade. They’ll get a handful of primetime games off of 5-11.
Conversely, during the Jets run in 09/10, they didn’t approach the amount of primetime games the Giants had during this bad stretch.
I give this team with this HC no chance to beat the Pats in that situation. That makes week two the whole season. Giants drop that one it will be another losing season and two 5 - 7 pick.
The New York Giants also were the first team involved as well.
NFL Kickoff Game - ( New Window )
I’d be shocked if we opened with 2 consecutive road games. Imagine if we’re 0-1 and we have Green Bay looming week 2?
Who's scared of GB? They suck too.

to play the Pats, the time to play them is early.

They’re still likely to be better than us next year. I’m fairly confident when a GB fan is looking at their schedule for 2019, they’re not penciling in an “L” next to the game in Jersey.
+1
If memory serves me right they are a .500 type team in September. This would be a good thing.
Great! The Giants can use your positive energy at the game!
Yes, but the Giants and Patriots are ratings monsters. So while on paper the match you may not be appealing, there is still a historical component there, and both teams draw huge ratings.

Not too mention the Giants will be 0-0 and there is still hope for the season so the whole fan base will be watching. It's a smart play by the league. Get ALL the Giants fans for the TV ratings.
If I am remembering correctly, there was a recent final preseason game between two teams that met on opening day. So I don't believe it's unprecedented............

This. 100%.
I lived in the Helmsley Tower on YorkAve from ‘03-‘08, before moving to the Coleman on 1st between 71st & 72nd till ‘12, when I moved to Jersey. Kept the handle. Spent a lot of time in O’Flanagans, Doc Watson’s, American Trash & Bar Coastal over the years...

What a moronic comment.

Fucking ray of sunshine.
We will never see the giants win again. Never!
That's right.
If you are going to put the Giants on TV, it best be done in the first seven weeks. Anything after that is risky.
The idea the Giants are ratings "monsters" assumes the team is good at the time. The Giants are not pulling in ratings when they are 1-7 and playing out the string by Halloween as we have seen the last number of years.

And people complain about negativity from posters. Watch the fucking team on the field if you want something to complain about.
Gives us all a chance to watch Shurmer coach circles around Belichick (and if you believe that, I have some land to sell you).

Thanks for that. We needed to be reminded.
Like I said, we will never win again. Why? Because bad teams never turn things around.

Oh and one more thing, there isn’t one single giants fan here that hasn’t complained lately. Not. Fucking. One. Every single fan here has lamented this stretch of bad play and questioned things. Every. Single. One.
Every time you post shit like this it just sounds arrogant and condescending and out of touch. Just because some here choose to try and look on the bright side while keeping a balanced grasp on what is happening doesn’t mean those same fans don’t know which way the wind is blowing.

Haha, I'm still at the Stumble Inn stage of my life, but yes, I like frequenting those places you mentioned.

I went to the ‘soft’ and the Official Grand Opening of the Stumble Inn.
Used to go there when it was called Mo’s Caribbean too.
The bar Brady’s on 81st & 2nd covered it’s name up in 07 & 11 with a banner that said Manning’s during those epic runs.
Great memories on the UES

First bar/grille I think I ever went to was some place on Third Avenue called "The Polo Grounds." Must've been like 6 at the time.
