Anyone see this one yet from ESPN? I pray it’s that simple and not the fact he’s gone back to back seasons of almost 200 innings Severino changes diet - ( New Window )
He was slowly killing himself with that junk and it 100% was a factor in his late season fatigue. I think Sabathia made a similar change a few years back, granted he pretty much had to but I’m sure it helped lenghthen his career.
Actually, there's a semi valuable takeaway from that - which is that Sevy clearly was fatigued and tired near the end of the year despite the insistence from both he and the team that was not the case.
Obviously I know why they'd say that at the time - but we can now pretty safely see that he was indeed tired and it makes it a bit more curious that they wouldn't skip his turn in the rotation and just kept sending him out there every 5th day.
I Opened the Article Link to Get the Details on His Diet Â
Wasn't he throwing 99 late in games IF he even made it that far? If he was getting bombed early it might not be stamina. Do his pitches have much movement besides speed?
If the tipping theory is true that might explain Severino falling off the wall but I was kind of dreaming/hoping he was so good he could tell you what was coming and you still couldn't hit it.

he had had that problem in year 2, but not 3 and it came back. Could have been fatigue related. Pedro had taught him how do to avoid tipping after year 2.

If he was tipping why didn't MLB Network show where the tipping was? Why didn't some other sports network find it and show how he was tipping?
I'm not dismissing that he could be tipping, but I am highly skeptical.
Off topic but I got an email from the Yanks today Â
They are having a cool ticket offer till midnight tonight. Celebrating pitchers and catchers reporting, 2 tickets for $13, For select games in April. Not the best seats, 300/400 level OF but got 4 for April 18 for $36 including fees. $9 a ticket is pretty damn good for a Yanks game. Cheaper than a movie.

ON one of the hot stove episodes Jack Curry showed how he was tipping his pitches. SEvy was on the MKS last week and mentioned it also. Something to do with a man on 2nd and looking back at him before throwing a certain pitch.
Has kind of taken on a life of its own. It’s talked about as if it’s a fact. Many people, media included, have suggested he’s tipping his pitches yet we’ve never once heard HOW. What’s he doing? I read an article just the other day regarding this and Severino said in the article that he doesn’t feel he’s tipping his pitches. He said that they haven’t found anything on film to suggest that it’s the case but they will keep looking.
I’m not saying he is or isn’t tipping pitches, but if he is then how in the world does everyone else see it except for the Yankees? They are incredibly detail oriented and as analytically driven as any team in the league. Is it really reasonable to think with all their resources that they can’t break down where his tipping issues are, if they exist?

The interview I read with Sevy had him denying tipping pitches. But even if he did mention that on Kay, his issues far exceeded just the random guy on second scenario. What about when no one is on base?
I thought the same thing. It all seems strange. The fact that during the playoffs you see the redsox players calling the pitch before it's thrown, makes me believe he was tipping his pitches.

Yeah, like Mariano was tipping his pitches ;)
