“Source confirms CC Sabathia will hold a press conference Saturday at Steinbrenner Field to officially announce that he will retire at the end of the 2019 season. @martinonyc mentioned the presser first.”
and he was one of the top starters in baseball for a few years. Importantly, he has always been one of the best ambassadors for the game. He will get in the HOF.
Now let's have him stay healthy and hold down 25-28 starts as we march towards the next championship.
The way he risked hundreds of millions as a free agent by letting the Brewers ride him so damn hard after that trade is something I’ll never forget. Truly an example of a player choosing his teammates (who he barely knew at that point) over his career earnings potential. The fact he got tossed for defending Romine before his innings incentive is another example.
Yanks don’t win in ‘09 without him. Great pitcher. Halladay and Twins Johan were probably a little more dominant at their best, but CC was one of the top guys from this era and one of the last true workhorses.
Sad to see him go, but he had a greeat career. Shoe in to the hall. Numbers are changing with the rise of bullpen pitching. Even Kershaw will struggle to get 250 wins.
They don't measure it in columns and rows, but he also... Â
its being reported that Jacoby's return is being delayed a month due to plantar fasciitis. They need to do what ever they have to dump this guy. Talk about once of the worst contracts ever,

The Yankees can keep getting insurance money as long a doctor says he can't play. The problem would be if he was healthy enough to play cause the Yankees have no interest activating him. The only thing he does is eat a 40 man roster spot.
And I think it gets him the hall. His stats vs. his peers during his time in the league is going to be pretty interesting.

he threw ~150 innings of 3.65 ball last year. that not good enough for your fifth starter/clubhouse leader? get outta here.
Do you have anything to back up that clueless statement?
