I was late to the party on this, my wife and I started this back in 2014/15 and watched the first 3 seasons and half of season 4 in about a month or two but never finished as we got side tracked with "life".
Fast forward to this week in looking for a new show and I remembered I never finished so I'm back at it again, about 7 episodes into season 4.
Man, what a great show. Its been a good 3+ years since I last watched and somehow I remember almost every storyline, something I can rarely do with shows. So many great characters, lots of good acting throughout.
Anyone who hasn't watched it yet should start, it holds up very well despite being almost a decade old.
You're not kidding about S2. They did a pretty good job recovering from it in later seasons, largely by simply ignoring multiple season two story lines like they'd never happened.
Coach Taylor: You may never know how proud I am of you.Vince: You changed my life, Coach.
And while season 2 was bad, I give them a bit of a pass as it happened amidst the writer's strike, while the show kept being shuffled around the schedule and I think the network was forcing them to have juicier story lines, etc.
Agreed. Clear highlight of the show.
Haha. I saw Kyle Chander-Coach Taylor-at an Austin bar maybe 5 or 6 years ago. That man can drink.
"Sigh. What do I do now?"
Even still, it's the one show that makes so many other shows just feel like such... television in comparison. For example, it's the reason why I didn't enjoy Lost as much as everyone else because FNL exposed all of Lost's clumsy emotional cues and exposition. If it weren't for FNL, I might even like This is Us.
