Bo Levi Mitchell, the two-time Grey Cup-winning QB who worked out for the GIANTS right before Christmas as part of his NFL 6-team tour, has re-signed with John Hufnagel's Calgary Stampeeders of the CFL.
Post, because I believe the transition from Eli to the next guy is the one most important decision that will define this franchise for the next several years.
I m going off topic here, sorry, but if the Giants pass on a quarterback with 6 this year, they will have passed on 6 to possible 8 quarterbacks that went in the first round over the past two seasons.
The best quarterback this year, Haskins, reportedly at this time does not grade out a a top 6 pick.
Question, isn’t it likely that eventually the Giants will have to overpay or reach for their next guy.
It s been two years in a succession where we hear the same arguments as to why they should not pick a quarterback.
Other than being in the top 3 for the next two seasons when Lawerence and Tuancome out, can anyone see a scenerio where what I outlined above is not accurate.

There is an obvious difference between overpaying or reaching for what you believe is a franchise QB, and just overpaying or reaching for the sake of getting a QB.

The vast majority of players in the NFL Hall of Fame did not grade out as a top 6 pick.
The question is not whether the Giants would be reaching for Haskins or whatever QB they chose, but whether or not the QB they chose can actually play.
If they draft a QB at 6 who can be the next franchise guy, does it really matter that there were other players that were graded a little higher?
If Montana or Brady were drafted in the 1st RD instead of the 3rd and 6th, would anyone still be talking about how the 49ers and Pats screwed up by taking these low-rated QB so early?
If the Giants have Haskins ranked as say, the 15th best player in the draft, but they feel that he can play at a high level and they know that he's not going to last until anywhere near 15, why would it be a reach if they selected him at 6 or had to trade up to get him?

Haskins is a risk, but man does he throw a nice deep ball. To me it’s a risk worth taking, but what the hell do I know.

Where are you getting that Haskins doesn't grade out as a top 6 pick?
Sam Darnold should be a Giant period. I know everyone's past this and it's old but it still bugs me. I think Josh Allen might have been OK too. We can dream of Trevor Lawrence or do one thing that only worked once in the 50 years I've been watching football and that's get a veteran like Foles and hope it works. Kerry Collins is the only one I can think of that worked out. Even though Barkley is amazing, RBs are lasting 4-5 years tops. Hell, I wouldn't mind getting another back and running it down everyone's throat but the NFL doesn't allow you to be boring anymore. They want you to throw on third and one.
by having a QB that for an entire generation took virtually every snap with the exception of one f'd up game. i doubt we'll see this in our next signal caller. no slight or jinx on him. it's just the odds
