2018 NFL rookie report card: Ranking each team's class...

M.S. : 2/15/2019 7:16 am
...well here, at least, is some good news for the bad news Giants.

Jeremy Bergman and Nick Shook of NFL.com give the Giants a solid A- minus grade. Only Indy (no surprise) was graded higher (straight A).

At the very bottom sits the L.A. Rams (with a grade of D), which is also not too surprising given their first pick was at #89.

Here's what they said about Saquon Barkley:

"He lived up to all expectations, making the Pro Bowl while racking up a league-high 2,028 scrimmage yards and 15 scores behind an improving (but still bottom-tier) O-line."

Re OL, Halapio is a wildcard at C. TBD..

Solder is fine and of course Hernandez. Jamon Brown? Mixed..This could be a solid OL if, as has been prognosticated, there are plenty of quality players in the first several rounds. Depth can be had in FA. Not certain a high priced FA OL is the way to go unless young and extremely talented. If not, pass big time
Very early but

Considering Reese’s shitty history in general if both Barkley and Hernandez get better we should be happy. The real measure should be if Hill amen Carter continue to improve and if McIntosh helps even as a rotational guy. Then thegrade could go higher.

Also do we grade Beal in this year’s draft? They NEED him to at lest be a rotational guy. Really a starter w Jenkins age ASAP. Gettleman first year draft wise was an A. Issue is does he crater like Jerry R who drive this team off a cliff
This article makes me think of something I read shortly after Dave

Gettleman got hired. He fired Marc Ross and totally changed how the Giants rate players and construct their draft board. It seems to have worked. Now, if we can have an equally good draft this season -
Picking second

didn't hurt. Not that it is a guarantee.
I agree,

picking second is a huge advantage in the draft.....especially when the BPA is there at 2....

Hernandez had growing pains as expected, but got better as the season progressed....

As for Hill and Carter, let's see what they do next season....
Just too soon to say...

Hitting on Barks is no great accomplishment. It remains to be seen if he’s worth the 2 and that’s got as much to do with what the QBs not picked do over the course of SBs career in the league. But yeah, he’s terrific so far.

And of course, the real challenge in the draft is the later rounds. So, this is fun in the off season but we need to wait and see.
