NFT: True Detective with Spoilers

Didn't see that coming at the end. Hayes got bought out by the Hoyt family. Everything else was pretty on point.

Seems like Haye's is still being followed by the Hoyt family.

We also know why West is such a heavy drinker. The mixture of killing that man, and finding Tom Purcell dead.

I also liked the tie into season 1.

I really want to know if Hayes remembers being paid off, or whatever happens in that car? I feel like he can't remember it or did he hold back in the interview because he remembered?
I think Hoyt

I mean they did threaten his family on the phone before he entered the car.

They also threatened to expose him for disposing of the body too.

Their deal was probably to keep things quiet for the rest of their lives about killing the security guard, so Hayes doesn't go to jail.
Ali and Dorff both said before the season

that the finale was some of the best writing they'd ever read. Given all the loose ends, it needs to be. How did Hoyt know about Harris James, what happens to Rebecca in college (that opening scene wasn't just a throw-in), what was the ultimate fate of Amelia? Mostly importantly for me, does Julie Purcell make an appearance and explain her and Will's fate?

During the famous porch scene between the old men, Hays makes some remark about Julie possibly "still being out there," which Roland scoffs at - leads me to believe they don't meet her in the 1990s timeline. It'd be cool if they track her down in 2015, but they don't seem all that capable of great detective work as old men.

Well with one episode to go hopefully everything gets wrapped up real nicely.
When Wayne and Roland re-connected in 2015

he mentioned the meeting with Hoyt the day after killing Harris James, and Roland was taken aback by it. Not sure if Hayes' memory of it comes and goes, but he certainly recalled it that day, and Roland had clearly never been told. I guess Roland never knew why Hayes left the job so abruptly.
"You know Carcosa?"

The African American woman that Hays and West interviewed last night who worked for the Hoyts was eerily reminiscent of the African American woman that Cohle and Hart nterviewed in the next to last episode of TD1 who worked for the Tuttle family.

Outstanding catch, definitely want to review TD1 now.
