Several people told that to Simmons during All-Star Weekend, and added that he may not do it while his dad is alive. His dad is 92 years old. Also, he wants to keep MSG and just sell the team, which complicates things a bit. But there's a lot of smoke surrounding this, to be sure.
and i dont doubt simmons has legit sources. That said i cant imagine Dolan considers selling right before we potentially add a big time FA and/or the #1 pick.
Maybe this is why "stars" are considering coming here, cause they heard dolan is on the way out. Please, please, please.....
Holding onto MSG might be good for him and the buyer. Â
Doesn't he not pay any taxes on MSG? If he sells it then I think the city/state can get rid of that agreement. If he holds onto MSG then maybe he still gets that exemption which can then benefit the buyer.
Yet a lot of you are the same people that hate Isola. You all think Dolan is awful, but you hate Isola because he is ruthless on Dolan? Never understood that.
At least Dolan spends the money and runs a good business model. He’s even backed off and let the GM/HC do their thing with autonomy, or so it would appear.
Dolan could not have done a shittier job from the late 90s to Phil Jackson but most of us loved the phil hire. He just went insane on our dime which sucks. Seems now he’s got good people in charge....
But, it certainly wouldn’t keep me up at night if Dolan sold the Knicks.

Most people hate Isola because he is just a troll and provides nothing of value. Not because he hates Dolan.
and you think whoever buys the knicks is going to be penny pinching??
Also isola is a hack who lets his personal feelings influence every piece of garbage he writes. If he wants to write a piece trashing dolan then fine. But everything he writes he shits on the knicks because he hates dolan. Why would any fan want every article to be written like that.
What kind of person would buy the Knicks for 4 billion Â
though? Buying teams makes sense when you expect them to appreciate in value and make money off it down the road. Buying now would be buying pretty high.

Yes but how many people buy sports teams as strict isolated dollar investments? not many. They buy them for a multitude of reasons- prestige, an in to the exclusive clubs that are the pro sports organizations, as vehicles to gain influence by giving away access and tickets etc...

It will go for over 4 bill. If he truly puts it up for sale, the demand will be insane. It’s the ultimate toy for a rich New Yorker.
Bezos - he can make up with NYC after pulling out. Â
The video of KD leaving the bench after the argument with Draymond earlier this season showed him clearly saying, "That's why I'm out." I remember that being the first time I really took this seriously.

If these guys do not sign with the Knicks it is going to be hard to remain objective or hopeful as a fan, in the sense that all of this talk and smoke would feel like a troll job. Knick fans can take a lot but this would be a new low. Even if the Knicks remained calm and stayed the course it will sting.

this is the biggest offseason since 2010...
make the wrong move and knicks could be set back for a long time...
also if no superstar comes this offseason they will never come via free agency
but I think Dolan was starting to get what's involved in being a good owner.
Dolan was horrible pre-Phil Jackson. Since then he genuinely seems to have stayed an arms length away from personnel decisions. And nobody can ever call him cheap. Hopefully if he sells it doesn't turn out to be the old "be careful for what you wish for", and we end up with a cheap-skate for an owner.
Depends upon the lottery. Other than the Ewing lottery, the Knicks have not moved up in a lottery. They have either stayed flat or fell to a lower slot.
If they win the first pick (no way that happens. The only Knick luck is bad luck), their plan is off and running with Zion.
If they go 1-3 it’s not the end of the world as both Morant and Barrett have the potential to be all-stars.
However, fall to four and below, they lose a major trade chip and probably only get an average starter.
Zion, Morant or Barrett would also be attractive to free agents as team mates.
I am not sure I can bring myself to watch the lottery when it happens but I will hold my breath until it’s done.
that someone is going to buy the knicks and penny pinch. Why would you pay 5 billion for an nba team in NY and then tighten the purse strings. And its the nba where they have pretty much limited the advantage of a big market and owner willing to spend. Really a penny pinching owner means that you might get stuck with a Ron baker taking up a roster spot for a year vs being bought out, not exactly the end of the world.
The salary cap makes it nearly impossible for the Knicks to lose Â
There have been rumblings in past months insinuating this too.
Maybe this is why "stars" are considering coming here, cause they heard dolan is on the way out. Please, please, please.....
said deandre is in a good spot after trade...
said he trusts rich kleinman with everything...
a lot of people are making way to much of how much kyrie and kd hungout during all star events

They are friends though.
I'm not huge on Kyrie, I think this season the celtics are having makes him look bad considering how far they got last season without him and Hayward.

I dunno it is hard not to read to much into it
it is funny to because everyone thinks kd is the lock and he has to recruit irving
I didnt take it seriously until the kp trade
If Durant signs here the dominoes start falling for the Knicks. Entire league changes dramatically..
