He had one 8-12 yard run against a team (I think the Eagles) where he put on more moves in one run than I've ever seen.

It was against the Eagles, for a 9 yard run, Aikman and Buck called the game, Aikman said best 9 yd run you'll ever see.
And I saw all of the ones you mentioned. Barkley is easily the best back to break into the league since Payton. If he says healthy and continues to improve as he did during the course of the season, he could become the best ever.
I was happy we drafted him and he is even better than advertised. Best RB I have ever seen. He's like the love child of Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders... lol

I've seen Jim Brown (a lot), Gayle Sayers, O.J., Dickerson, Earl Campbell, Hugh McElheney at the end of his career, Walter Payton, Joe "the Jet" Perry (a very, very good FB who is largely forgotten now but at one time was almost at the top of the all-time records lists), Jim Taylor, Lenny Moore, Ollie Matson, Larry Csonka in his prime and later flim-flamming money out of the GIANTS, John Riggins, and many more.
Right now Barkley is as good as any of these guys and better than most of them, partly because he's a serious threat as a receiver as well as a runner.
The only thing Barkley has left to prove is whether or not he can do it over multiple seasons. Campbell was a dominant runner for about five years, but didn't put together the extended career that Brown, Payton, or Perry did.
If Barkely can top that while continuing to do what he did last year, I will put him in serious contention with Brown as the best back ever. He is that good.

I believe he runs good patterns for passes and is a willing blocker in blitz pickup.
Yup just to get better technique and a full NFL off-season and training camp of strength ... he got blew up a few times this year ... but he puts in the effort just needs better technique
he is no Jim Brown, Campbell, Jim Taylor, etc....he is not the kind of guy that is going to run over people consistently....and if he tried he would have a short career in the NFL.....he has the ability to cut without loss of speed, and I too am just amazed at the amount of yards he made behind this OL....
He is just a pure talent that can make something virtually out of nothing....and I think of the two headed monster of OBj and SB, and how BOTH are hampered by lack of an OL....
We have control over Halapio but not Brown, and Wheeler should just be gone.....but even Halapio was a practice squad guy for a reason...
If this offense can stay healthy, and get 2 or 3 starting OLmen, it becomes very scary even without a 3rd WR....
As for Gallman, he is an average back.....I actually liked Perkins his rookie year....he showed some wiggle eluding tacklers, but he does not have burst speed....In 2017, I don't know what happened to him.....he was just handed the starting job....did that have an effect on him? Was he in shape? I don't know....

I grew up watching Barry Sanders. I never thought we should see anything like him again. I remember watching one highlight of his sons and thought maybe that is the only way we see see something like him but that was fleeting. If I had to say I had a second favorite team growing up it was the Lions just because of him.
Watch Sanders highlights and Barkley’s from this season and I don’t see anything Sanders can do that Barkley can’t. That is ridiculous. I feel spoiled of what is to come.
Gettleman has the potential to do something the Lions failed to do for 10 years—give the best running back the oline he deserves. We are reliving the past with Dallas and Zeke. What would Sanders have been like behind Smith’s line? Zeke vs Barkley is only a comparison of we fail to deliver Barkley a oline. Sanders May have been able to carry Detroit to a super bowl without a big time qb if he had an above average line.
What we are watching is not normal. Give Barkley the line. Let him get past the line of scrimmage without 1 or two players in the backfield and he may never be stopped.
He is a good solid back. Not spectacular but a winner. Gets what is available. Going to be a rough career behind Saquon. Probably will get a decent deal from someone else when he is up for FA.
for the Giants to do whatever they can to get themselves an OL and QB that can grow with SB. Every year they wait on this - is one more year of SB's greatness that they waste.

I don't like Murray's style of QB for long term purposes, but he really could do some damage with SB, OBJ and EE. Even if we only get 4 stellar years that may be enough for an early career success like Russel Wilson. Our offense would be so damn fast we couldn't be planned for. I won't cry if we take Murray. It's a swing for the fences and if we connect it could be a fun few years at least.
Well, Eric, I have been watching the Giants since 1961 and I have seen Â
the last moments of Jim Brown, Sayers, Tony Dorsett, Dickerson, Payton and Sanders. Barkley is right there with them and probably better when you consider his ability to catch the ball.
Still, my only reservations were that the OL needed to be addressed and I wanted Nelson. I am certainly not unhappy with Saquon...he is a generational player...but we all have this discussion about the length of career for a running back, the pounding they take. Football tradition says Nelson will have a longer career than Saquon and if we do not address the OL in a major fashion then we are wasting this player. So that was and remains my beef with this pick even while I love watching him in Giant blue.
We could have had Nelson and then Hernandez or Smith and be well on our way to being set for the future. I still believe that was the right move...more than a QB and more than a running back. The fact we only drafted one offensive lineman is a concern for me. We still need a right guard, RT and probably a centre. That and a pass rusher are our needs this draft. Or DG has to find some gems as UDFAs. Imagine what Saquon could do with a half decent offensive line. The mind wanders on that one.

Well, maybe not Pisarcik. He'd just fumble the ball trying to hand off.
