Plax's Jets (dis)Incentives

Anyone else catch Bart Scott yesterday afternoon? He didn't get into the details, but when discussing DeGrom's contract situation, he threw out Plax's situation with the Jets. He claimed that the Jets removed Plaxico from certain packages so that he would not reach his contract incentives. I don't recall hearing about this previously, but that is absolutely absurd.

was Plax actually that close to hitting any incentives?

I thought he was done after he left the Giants...

That's inconsistent with the way Burress' contract was reported.

At the time of the signing, it was reported that the Giants offered him a contract loaded with incentives, and the Jets offered him a fully guaranteed deal, so he took the Jets.

let's not let Plaxico catch touchdown passes because we might have to pay him more money. Take the field goal. Great strategy.

rationalized his diminished playing time. Couldn't be that he was a shell of himself after that time behind bars.

He talked about his last season in the league on the Steelers and how as soon as he hit the turf and injured his shoulder on a play he knew immediately it was career-ending and he was done

In the NFL. Our very own Victor Cruz hinted that the Giants did this as well on a radio show after he was released a few years ago.

Burress actually had quite a productive season with the Jets. I was shocked how component he was after 2 years away and at that age.
