Heading to LV in a few weeks for the first few rounds of the tourney. My first time going!
Staying at Bally's. Going to the Westgate Theater on Thursday and planning on bouncing around Fri/Sat to watch the games.
Hoping to hit a few sports bars on Fri/Sat. I know of a few that are well reviewed for big events like this such as the Tap Sports Bar @ MGM and Lagasse Stadium at the Venetian. Any other nice spots like these?
Really just looking for general advice.. such as, what hotel has the best breakfast buffet? Must try restaurants?
Any must-see spots? I've searched the archive and got some good info for Vegas in general, but hoping maybe people have gone for March Madness specifically. I've read it's a whole different monster.
The first time at LV I spent almost no time in the casinos. Went to all the different casinos to see their attractions - Venetian, Mirage, MGM, etc. Be sure to go downtown for the evening music/light show.
Samba Sushi in the Venetian/palazzo is really good.
Tao nightclub in Venetian is also fun too
I like Caesar's sports book, but they're all good enough.
I've read that the renovated building is actually pretty nice. I've also read that the old building is a shithole though, how long has it been since you stayed there?
The sportsbooks are going to be really crowded that weekend. Making reservations is what I'd suggest, but it might already be a bit late for that, and the reservations often require expensive spending minimums.
If you don't have a reservation and want to be able to sit somewhere and watch the games, I'd recommend getting to the sports books really early (like 6-7am). Another option is to place your bets and find a nice poker room to chill out and play cards and also watch the games. You'll get free drinks and will probably play better since you'll be patient enough to fold garbage due to having action on all of the games.
this is solid advice.
only cool thing about the sports books (some of them) are the massive wall of TV's, otherwise better off somewhere more comfortable with better drink/food service.

Country club atmosphere and real maple syrup
The strip is way overpriced some of the best places to eat are not even close to the strip. Chloes and Italian restaurant in a strip mall off of Buffalo is as good as any Italian restaurant on the strip.
Baltimore themed pub with fresh crabs and oysters flown in
from Baltimore every other day.
The Crabcakes are exactly like the ones in the pubs off the cheasepeke.
The grilled oysters are fantastic. go one a wednesday they are a dollar each.
