He was the high school boys' basketball coach when Snee played high school basketball. This past week I've been in conversations with the coach, as he's since shifted to lead the girls' program at the same high school. He has two young daughters who will play with our AAU program this spring, so of course, I eventually took the conversation Snee-ward.
He talked about how Snee was 6-4, 280 as a high school senior which made him absolutely unstoppable on the court. Snee wasn't JUST a big body, though. He was quite an athlete, and as we know, a smart kid, to boot. He overpowered opponents, but also outsmarted them. He had moves in the post and would routinely dunk over people with one hand OR two. Chris Snee playing high school hoops was apparently quite a thing.
His senior season the team went to the state playoffs, and the coach described how they were "screwed" in a second-round loss. Down 1 they had the ball with seconds ticking away. Guard last name of Coffee gets off a shot - whistle blows, ref hand raised. Shot misses, Snee grabs the rebound and slams the put-back home ... AFTER the final buzzer.
No matter. Coffee's going to the line, and he shoots about 80% from there, says the coach.
Thing is, when the buzzer went off, fans rushed the floor and the officials made a run for it. They did not return. Didn't matter that a shooting foul was call BEFORE the buzzer, and that it was clearly captured on video. The refs were out.
Anyhow, coach sends a letter/protest complete with video proof his boys were screwed, but that worked out exactly the way you think it did, and yadda yadda yadda, Snee had a pretty damn good career. :)
Hump DAYYYYYYYYYY.
Oh, and football thread because it's Snee. Suck it.
nice, so did my college roomie. He said one year Snee busted his arm and used it as a club during games.
