Im told that Giants S Landon Collins cleaned out his locker today at the team facility and said his goodbyes to teammates, coaches and trainers. It doesnt seem like Collins expects to be a Giant for much longer, per sources.
There are people there working out.. thats been reported already..
YES she does.. which is why I dont pay any attention to her
Agreed, tagging him would count 11-12 million against the cap. If they can't trade him for anything, they are stuck with him

What was the last claim shes made similar to this that wasnt true?

Didn't she say OBJ was out of here before he signed the extension? I recall it was a big deal on ESPN.

up whatever the millions are to tag a safety.

Exactly. $12M for a guy having a down year followed by an injury.
No, I think that's what the Giants wanted.
It may have been a 3rd.
No, I think the Giants wanted a 2nd from them.
Are we sure this is negative news?
He's a goner and that should've been clear at the deadline last year.
Just cutting him, on February 20th, makes absolutely no sense.

What if there are no trade offers? Then they are stuck with him at 12 million.
Yup.
Collins had a season-ending injury. Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Did you hear something? Because this makes no sense.

Pretty sure it was a joke. They cant even trade Collins without tagging him

Giants S Landon Collins' locker remains full of stuff, as of this hour, and he has not been informed of any decision on whether the team plans to use the "franchise tag" on him or not, according to a source. ... So nothing new and nothing to see here.

Yup, she is a hack, just like LaCanfora.
I know she led the way when Collins and Apple were exchanging pleasantries during Ben's last year.
There's been no progress on a long-term deal and the "franchise tag" is a definite possibility. The Giants have until March 5 to use it.
Here's why it's the smart move for the Giants: bit.ly/2GOtIVK
It's too early, but another team may outbid them
Stellar GMing by DG if this is how it plays out.
So long as it is unsigned. Collins puts ink to paper and it is guaranteed. Any tag needs to be rescinded in order to be considered for comp picks next year. Rob and I had discussed the possibilities in an earlier thread. And I feel the best course of action is the Transition Tag. Force Collins to determine his market value. It also forces Collins to prove that he is healthy as no offer sheet would be extended unless he can pass a physical for an interested team. We would have the right to match the offer. If we don't match, then we rescind the tag and wish Collins luck.
Indeed. Get her far away from this organization.
Might as well. It will just lead to rampant speculation.
F this B.

seem to trust her to get their message out there.

She was also sourcing stuff from OB before his got the new deal.

@RVacchianoSNY @NYPost_Schwartz I stand by what I said. Let's see if he returns to grab whatever is *leftover* in his locker anytime soon.

On #Giants S Landon Collins and @JosinaAndersons report, I gather he took personal items from his locker. He doesnt expect to be at the facility for a while. Why? The franchise tag he publicly said he doesnt want. But the smart money remains on Collins with NYG this year.

So...it sounds like the larger likelyhood is that Collins doesn't want the franchise tag. The Giants organization doesn't really care what he thinks because they will abide by the rules of the CBA and will do what they want and tag him. So he's pissed and walks out.
Sounds like Brandon Jacobs a few years back.
And the Giants eventually negotiated a long term deal with him. Which is what will probably happen here.
Anderson is a shit stirrer, but she seems to have direct contact with these athletes and gets their viewpoint out there. Again, the Giants and Collins will likely come to terms on a deal sometime in mid March.
Huh?

Well, the Giants tagged him anyway a few weeks later
And then he said this:
Ho hum...all part of the negotiating process.
She needs to lay off the plastic surgery for sure
He doesn't want the tag, he wants a long term deal.
If the Giants want him, this will get worked out.
Oh yes...please make this happen.
And this coincides with what Jon and I said earlier. It would be best for the Giants organization to identify those players that she is connected to and ship them out. Her being associated in any way with those players is a festering cancer. She only deals in the divisive and negative news.

You're going to target a reporter and banish everyone who talks to her? Good luck with that one.

She should be treated as persona not grata. Those that want to use her as a source should be made a public example. OBJ wants to buddy up to her? Make it public and ship him off to Buffalo to waste his prime years away. Others will toe the line.
But in this case, a correct dog shit in a flaming paper bag.
Making roster decisions based on which reporters players speak with would certainly be a new and different approach.

It would be unheard of, but if we are to give credence to building a team with high character guys and focus on team chemistry, you can't allow someone of her ilk to continually divide the team. Cut the cancer out.

Yeah, the NFL would sit idly by while one of its team's cut every player who speaks to a credentialed reporter from a major news outlet...one the NFL has a broadcast contract with.
That idea is a lot more anger than it is sense.
+1. She's plugged in on the Giants player side for sure and doing her part in some quid pro quo here. Collins is negotiating.
But his game doesn't suit today's demands of the S position. I think the SS is becoming extinct. What a team really needs is two FSs who can run and cover. That should be the direction of this team...

for simply doing their job...
Exactly. Vacchiano and Garafolo have had their wtf moments too. What's the big deal here?
Agreed. Josina is just doing her job. Her reporting is informative and accurate. Vacchiano and Garafolo have done the same thing throughout, and don't get half the hateful criticism from the knuckle draggers here.
Collin is a young ALL PRO. Any defense is the sum of it's parts. The 2016 defense was very good because it had a lot of outstanding players - DRC, Jenkins, Snacks etc.
The defense today is depleted. You don't throw good young talent overboard. Maybe Vernon has seen his best days, maybe it makes more sense to dump him (or not)
Dollar-wise, as much as I love Eli, we know he's seen his best days. First round flops like Pugh & Flowers - good riddance; proven young talent like Collins & OBJ, they are keepers.
The Giants can't invest a ton of money in a player unless they are sure where that player is medically.
I expect the Giants will put the franchise tag on Collins and work on a long term deal once he checks out medically.
This is very similar to the Beckham contract/injury situation last offseason.
In a sense yes, but also like Stapleton said it was just Baggy Day 2.0 for him and nothing more. He doesnt know if he will be back, so why wouldnt he clean out his locker?
Quote:
He wants an extension, not a tag, so he walked out.

It wasn't mentioned in yesterday's threads, but it was on NFL Network stating that Collins is expecting the tag, but will not sign it. The locker clean-out 2.0 is telegraphing that he intends to sit out the off-season and workout away from the facility. Speculation is that he might even sit out training camp. Of course, DG will not be patient. He has shown the willingness to rescind the tag when dealing with Norman in Carolina. If this process gets dragged out past July, DG very well might pull the tag and let Collins latch on to another team late in the summer.

He will be a Giant. He has to....I bought my son a Collins jersey just 2 years ago ; )
