I thin khe's just a troll. Or an insecure kid whose only validation in life is seeing his name in the "Started By" column.

Or both.

Only Eli is 4th, a narrow edge over Smith.

But it sounds like we’re all in on Eli once again because he gives us the best chance of winning.

A few games.

I think that's a false premise. *Unless* the Giants pick Haskins at #6...something that you, yourself, have stated numerous times that you *would not do*. If they do the wiser, more strategic thing and wait for 2020, then ELi plays it out. His presence says nothing about them being "all in" whatsoever.

You, as usual, are trying to be pejorative.

I had to re-register this handle; I've been a part of BBI since the corner forum was called Pete's corner where people had endless arguments whether Danny Kannell had "it" and when BW in DC called Strahan "$trahan" throughout the 99' season.

Even if I was a new user, however, who f%ckin' cares? I'm pretty the spirit of this forum isn't geared toward screaming "dupe!" at every new poster who shares a different perspective than you.

I'm sorry all the advanced numbers (and let's face it, a lot conventional) numbers have Eli at replacement level since 2016. It's offensive, I know. I'll stop.

Like you, Dep, I’ve been reading BBI for quite awhile. I had to re-register my name because something got messed up with my old one.

No, I’m not an agent (that would be awesome, though), just a fan who knows we need to move on. My posts last year were on the same subject. Eli has been terrible these last two seasons.

Even if you think Eli has one good year left, exactly why does that mean the Giants should avoid the QB class this year like the plague? Should teams not plan for the future, and only address it when the present arrives? This run it back nonsense is getting old.

And it’s not just me that thinks that. You can accuse PFF of utter stupidity. But don’t you find it amusing that nearly every mock draft out there has us picking a QB? Do you think that is sheer coincidence? Objective viewers see the Giants’ glaring need for a new QB. The fans who can move on here do as well. It’s just the die hard Eli apologists who can’t. And guess what? Next year you’ll say the same thing. The OL was bad. Or something else. You’ll blame yet another bad season on someone other than Eli, say he has one good year left, advocate running it back yet again, and going for Lawrence in 2021, even though it will take the 1 pick to get him. Can’t you see a troubling trend here. Eli is 8-23 in his last 31 games. Is that not at least somewhat to blame on him, particularly considering he has the fewest TD passes over that time?

But yea, I’m the jackass for pointing it out. What else would you like to talk about in the offseason, particularly after some insiders posted we are again all in on Eli and will pass up QBs? Butterflies? Maybe Shurmur will address the position in round 7 with his son. Sounds great!

What's the more likely explanation: this board is full of dupes puppeting an anti-Eli agenda or that more and more fans have grown unenthusiastic about seeing him under center again, given recent results, and are voicing their opinion.

Don’t you know? For some it’s not enough to have a generational WR

and a generational RB, we need a generational OL and defense too. Then we can judge Eli, only then. Of course, next year if we go 6-10, it will be the defense’s fault.

The only way to know is that we draft a Qb this year and he plays mid-year and transforms the team, much like Mayfield. Until then, you are not going to get Eli homers to hold him accountable.

Agreed. It’s absurd. And I have no idea why posters get such vitriol for expressing their views. I want the Giants to draft an Eli successor. That doesn’t mean I love forgotten the two titles he brought us, or the class act he’s been during his time here. But this nonsense that we need an instant impact player at 6 because we’ve gotta get more pieces for Eli is nuts. The fact is that no matter who we pick, most rookies struggle out of the gate. People here think we’re picking an edge rusher at 6 and getting a Hall of Famer.

Yes, Nelson was picked at 6 last year and worked out terrifically for the Colts. But players like him are the exception, not the rule. While the guy we pick may help, it’s unlikely the guy is going to come in his first year and add several wins to this team’s bottom line. We have to think long term with the pick, not what will help Eli most next year - that is precisely how you ruin a franchise.

So take a QB you arent in love with? Or hsa a ton of question marks? Yeah thats the way to approach a successor.

Its posters like you and Jim who I just cant fathom as fans. First off Eli hasnt been "bad" the past two years. You just see what you want to see. He hasnt played at a pro bowl level. I mean 4300 yards and 21/11 may not be a great year, but its anything but bad.

You know what has been bad? Our defense. You know what has been bad? Our OL. Our run game for the past 10 years has been one of the worst in football. Our defesne, outside of 2016 - has been as well.

But again, I can see why the priority HAS to be the QB - no matter how average the options may be to replace him. Why get better on the OL/DL.... amirite?

I have never said pick a QB for the sake of picking a QB. So, no, you’re not right. The Giants seem not only set on Eli in 2019, but not picking a QB because of that decision. That is the precise way not to build a team.

The Giants are bad for a lot of reasons. One is QB. Because that is the most important position, they better start with the process of landing one. At this time, the staff appears to have no urgency in doing so, and I think that is a grave mistake.

As far as Eli, you can’t just cite his stats and tell me he’s been good. Look at him relative to the rest of the league. He is below average in nearly every category. That is how you judge a QB. Giving me his numbers in isolation means nothing. He is literally dead last in TD passes amongst QBs who have started the last two seasons. Does that sound good to you? Is that what you are looking for in a QB?

Dep, stop acting like a child. I’m not pretending to know what the Giants will do; I am basing it off of what jtgiants and JonC reported yesterday. Could that change after combine? Sure.

As far as the TD passed, all the guys you cited missed significant portions of either one or both years due to injury. Smith broke his leg. Trubisky fury his shoulder this year and didn’t even start until the middle of last season. Mariota has missed significant time due to injury. Bortles was benched this season. And that’s what you’re going on? Comparing him to Bortles! If so, you’ve already lost.
I didnt know we had stioulations
dep026 : 2/21/2019 12:54 pm : link
I mean

Bortles played in 29 games the last two years... Eli 31
Smith played 26
Mariota played 28 and threw 24, yes 24 TDs!!!!!

I can go on.... But your statement was 100% false. And you speculate to prove a point. Not good.

So I'm making up shit that the Eli fan boys use as excuses for his shitty play? Ok. I'm still waiting to hear what exactly he does WELL that leads to team success on the field? Let me guess, he's a 2 time Super Bowl MVP (Should have been the Defense), Champion, blah blah blah.

Why even bother answering your question when you spew the same nonsense every thread and take shots at him when you can?

Your agenda and act is pathetic. But this is what BBI turns too when there is nothing else to talk about.

Yet you continue to answer. Listen, your boy has played like TRASH the past few seasons and you both need to man up and be accountable.

LOL, BBI. I'd call you a dupe, but I am not sure there was ever a poster dumber than you on here...

You're hopeless. When Eli retires, please join him.
I would retire

Ask Eli for assistance. You have his back no matter what, I'm sure he'll return the favor.

and a generational RB, we need a generational OL and defense too.

Why get better on the OL/DL.... amirite?

Eli doesn't have question marks?

If we're gonna start a mediocre QB, let's at least start a cheap mediocre QB so we can focus on building the rest of the roster up with the resulting cap room.

You think? Not a bad idea. But asking a stranger for money is something I am sure you have done outside on a street corner. Or on a park bench. As you can attest, it doesnt go over well I am sure.

The cheap option is an option. But a 1st rounder is an investment, not an option.

I would be open to signing a viable FA option. But the price has to be worth it. Not Nick Foles. And probably not Bridgewater either.

If Tannehill came cheap, Id consider it.

Stranger? The way you blindly support his poorest play and criticize those who don't, I thought you two might be closer. My fault.

And without his star WR for the last 5 games or so... He threw for 4300 yards and completed 66% of hus passes. If he'd had a few more TD throws... We'd be talking about how Eli was coming off one of his best statistical seasons.

And the highest scoring offense in the NFC East, with his star WR making a business decision. One that I actually agree with.
How are Nick Foles, Prescott and smith better than Eli?
