after the Zion Williamson injury. A PR nightmare for Nike.
Watching the game I did think the sneaker was the cause of his fall, but I never thought about the repercussions to the stock price. Shame on me, a former trader!
That this happened to the biggest start in college basketball in a generation, in the most anticipated game of the year, in the first minute of the game, and it's basically something that no one has ever reported happening like almost ever before? I mean really, the sole of the shoe immediately falling off? That's sounds like a cartoon or something.

Something was just very odd about this...
Biggest college star in a generation ? Holy embellishment.

I mean maybe you disagree but I'm far from the only person saying this. Note I said "college player" so Lebron doesn't count and neither does anyone else who skipped college ball. GQ just said he's the most exciting college player since Michael Jordan (link below). I know the media hypes things but I've seen this said by multiple people so please tell me which college player since MJ you would argue has been hyped more. Durant? Even Durant wasn't consensus #1 overall and didn't go #1. A lot of people are saying Zion is the next Lebron-caliber player in the NBA (again I know that's crazy hype but I'm just saying I'm not pulling this out of my ass). Coming from the same company that sponsored CK recently. This will pass as well.
The CK campaign was a profits bananza for Nike. There was nothing to "pass."
I'm talking about the internet outrage and the small dip the Nike stocks took the next day in regards to CK and now this. Something that will pass. Just thought it was funny OP pointed out the stock going down.
Well, 23%, but it has acted well.
Something like this can be an issue, but I agree, this too shall pass.
The contract with Nike is across Duke's whole athletic department, not specific to the basketball team.
It'll pass but if Zion suffered a significant injury because of this, it'll cost and haunt them for quite a while.
Sprained knee.

If I knew how, I should have shorted Nike stock and made 4% in a single day ...

because K has a direct deal with them, right?

Oh please, a LOT of schools have Nike contracts. They are the largest show contract firm in the world.

That is hilarious.
